When America’s Got Talent revealed the Top 36, one space was left open to make room for a fan-voted wildcard.
For the first time ever, five acts performed on a special hosted by Terry Crews and streamed on NBC’s Peacock TV. Fans needed a subscription to the service to watch. However, we cut and uploaded all five performances for your viewing pleasure!

The vive contestants vying for the 36th spot in the Quarterfinals are: Dylan Zangwill, 14 year old keyboardist who belts classic rock; close-up magician, Patrick Kun; rock singer and former Rockstar: Supernova contestant: Storm Large; bow-tied comedian Mike Goodwin; singer Matt Mauser.
Matt Mauser is the surprise. Not because he isn’t worthy of a second chance. But because Mike seemed to be a Top 36 shoe-in. He is a singer with a heavy backstory. His wife was killed in the tragic 2020 Kobe Bryant helicopter crash.
The inclusion of a fan-favorite contestant among the wildcards has me thinking AGT planted him in the lineup to lure fans into watching. On the hour-long special, Matt performed last, and sang his and his wife’s wedding song, “The Way You Look Tonight.” He seems like the obvious winner. But if Matt doesn’t take it, Storm Large, who had the best performance on the special, could win the spot. Her sublime rendition of Cheap Trick’s “I Want You To Want Me” was better than her audition.
The vote results could be weird. Fans had two days to vote, but only on Twitter, not the website or phone app. I suspect the voter turnout, as the say, was low. The winner will join the last set of 12 singers on Tuesday’s (Aug 24) America’s Got Talent Quarterfinals 3 episode.

In any case! Let’s do a fun poll. Which of the five acts WILL win the wildcard? Which of the five acts SHOULD win the wildcard? It’s time to VOTE.
