Nick Carter and Maddie Poppe Tour

American Idol winner Maddie Poppe will tour with Backstreet Boy Nick Carter in the fall

An American Idol is going on tour with a Backstreet Boy.

American Idol season 16 winner, Maddie Poppe announced on her Instagram that in October she’ll be opening on tour for Nick Carter. She wrote, “BIG news to share…So excited to announce that this October I’ll be opening for @nickcarter!!” The singer continued, “Never dreamed that I would be going on tour with one of the Backstreet Boys. Can’t wait to join Nick on the road this fall! Tickets on sale this Friday.”

The tour opens in Lexington Kentucky on October 4 and finishes up on October 24 in Las Vegas Nevada. For more information visit nickcarter.com.

Maddie Poppe is currently headlining a tour with Megan Danielle

Maddie is currently touring as a headliner with American Idol 2023 runner-up, Megan Danielle as her opening act. “So excited to have @americanidol Season 21 runner-up @megandaniellemusic join me on my summer tour!!” the season 16 champ wrote on Instagram. On Sunday (July 16), the two performed a concert in Los Angeles that was live streamed to over 30 countries.

Maddie’s latest single, “Good Enough to Let You Go,” was co-written last year by Maddie alongside David Spencer and Bryan Simpson in Nashville, where the singer recently relocated.

Are Caleb Lee Hutchinson and Maddie Poppe Still Together?

The singer-songwriter feels the song and its emotion are relatable for just about everyone who’s ever felt trapped at one point or another. The song is about “being stuck in a situation or relationship for too long – and in a dark sort of way wishing it would end in the worst way possible, just so you’d have a reason to close that book forever,” she said. “Oftentimes, things fizzle out or end cordially on their own, which can make it too easy to open that door again.”

Nick Carter moving forward despite tragedy and controversy

Nick is a member of the iconic 90’s band, Backstreet Boys, which toured the world last year. He told Billboard about the new tour, “I’m going to go out with a band, and I play guitar. I’m going to be playing drums throughout the show. So, it has a bit more creative personal expression and is a little bit more organic, I guess you could say.”

The singer has come off of a tumultuous time in his life. His brother Aaron Carter died at age 34 last year after he drowned in the bathtub at his home in Lancaster, Calif., after inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam. His death was deemed accidental.

Nick is also facing sexual abuse and assault accusations, which the singer vigorously denies. The latest is a lawsuit from Melissa Shuman, a former member of pop group dream who has accused him of assaulting her.

“I’m a really strong believer in the legal system,” the Backstreet Boys member tells Billboard, noting that he can’t share too many details about the ongoing lawsuit at this time. “I’m confident that justice will be served in the end, and I actually look forward to speaking about it more when it’s all over.”

Nick has participated in several TV competition shows. In 2020, he performed as the Crocodile on The Masked Singer (see photo above!) and was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars in 2015. He sat on the judges panel of the ABC competition show Boy Band in 2017.
