It’s Megan Danielle’s First Tour Ever

It’s Megan’s first tour ever, and she’s very excited about it. Maddie shared that she wanted to bring on an American Idol alum to open for her. “I told my agent, Megan Danielle, we should bring her out.” Maddie “popped up” in Megan’s DMs to ask the singer if she’d join her.

During the 30 minute stream, Maddie and Megan shared stories about their crazy American Idol journeys.

When an Idol producer reached out to Megan about auditioning for the show, she wanted to say no because she had already competed on The Voice season 18 in 2020. But then she thought of it as another platform to share who Jesus is. Prior to Idol she was leading worship and writing songs.

Megan is currently writing songs and recording demos. “New music is coming soon,” she says.

Maddie noted that she was also on The Voice, but didn’t get a chair to turn. Megan describes her experience on The Voice on Team Kelly Clarkson, where she finished in the Top 9, as “absolutely crazy” because she had no idea of the type of artist she wanted to be. It was also the spring of 2020 when the live shows were all virtual.

After her The Voice run, Megan played a few live shows before deciding to pursue Christian music. “I just felt like I was in the wrong atmosphere,” she said. “Not really being where God wanted me to be.”

Almost half way through the live stream the two discovered they were both in Nashville. Maddie lives there now, while Megan, a Georgia native, is staying in the city to write songs and record demos. She promises new music will be coming “very soon.”

Maddie and Megan compare American Idol notes: Vocal coach sessions were like “therapy.” Megan nixed “trashy” wardrobe ideas.

While Maddie and Megan worked with different American Idol vocal coaches, they both agree that working with the team was like a “therapy session.” The sessions, Maddie said, went like: “Figure out the song, nail it, then spend the rest of the time talking about how insane and hard this whole experience is.”

On the other hand, Maddie and Megan agree that wardrobe was “super stressful.” While she loved the wardrobe people, they would bring in “ridiculous stuff” that she would try on, Maddie said. “I love this, but I will look like an idiot,” she told them. Megan flat out rejected some of the outfits wardrobe presented to her. “If I go out there looking like that,” Megan said, “people are going to think I’m trash.”

Making it worse: Producers hating the wardrobe choices Maddie and Megan finally settled on. “You’d be set…and so happy…and go on the stage and then they’d be like “We don’t like the flower headband…or something so simple,” Maddie said.

“They take you everywhere,” said Megan. “The never give you a second to chill.” Her vocal sessions were also a time that allowed her to vent. “For me, I was just talking crap most of the time!” Other than Marybeth Byrd and Iam Tongi, Megan confesses she had nobody to talk with.

Megan’s boyfriend nows Maddie’s ex Caleb Lee Hutchinson

Now that her American Idol experience is finished, Megan wants to pursue Country and Christian music. Maddie thinks it’s great that Megan knows what direction she wants to take her music. “I have struggled with that for so long,” Maddie confessed. “I still struggle with that.”

Megan also shared about her boyfriend, Levi Walker, whom she’s been dating for about a year. And dun dun dun…he knows Maddie’s ex-boyfriend Caleb Lee Hutchinson, another Georgia native. “They were really close in school,” Megan revealed.
