Arthur Gunn dropped a new song this week. Take a listen to the Dylanesque folk tune “Rainy Days” below.
“I wrote this tune sometime ago,” The two-season American Idol alum wrote on social media. “I recently recorded, arranged, performed and produced on my own.” The singer-songwriter promises more new music to come. “Now, you can get excited about it, but I’ll tell you now, there are some more hot cakes baking in the kitchen.”
“This tune was a long time coming,” Arthur wrote on the day of release (August 21). He added, “Go ahead and save it to your playlist to soak it up. Thank you!”
Arthur initially competed on American Idol in 2020, coming in second place behind winner Just Sam. In 2021, American Idol asked 10 Top 20 contestants to “comeback” to compete for a spot in the 2021 Top 10. As the highest ranking returnee, Arthur received the most votes and took his place in the 2021 Top 10.
However, fans voted him out at the Top 7. Although no longer in the competition, Arthur released a professionally produced single, “Save Me Now.” Invited back to the finale, the singer ditched his duet partner, Sheryl Crow, 5 minutes before stage time. Other than saying he refused to play because of “personal morals and values due to unpleasant environmental experiences.” Arthur has stayed mum on the subject.
On July 30th, Arthur performed for a hometown crowd at the Wichita, Kansas venue, the Cotillion.
