American Idol Winner Maddie Poppe Reveals Album Title and Cover Art

American Idol Maddie Poppe

As Maddie Poppe comes to the end of her reign as the American Idol winner, she’s gearing up to release her first post-Idol album.

After performing with her boyfriend and runner-up Caleb Lee Hutchinson on Sunday’s (April 21) American Idol Disney Night themed broadcast, the singer revealed the album’s title and cover art on social media.

Whirlwind is scheduled to drop on May 17, the Friday before the American Idol finale. Maddie took the unusual step of commissioning a fan, sixteen year old Dylan Mead, to create the cover art.

Maddie became acquainted with the young artist after he created portraits of her and last year’s American Idol finalists and posted them to social media. He wrote:

Almost a year ago I had painted Maddie in honor of her American idol win. And now, I get to reveal why I’ve been so quiet on this account. On May 17th, the album Whirlwind by @maddiepoppe comes out! Cover art designed and painted by me! This is so crazy. At 16 years old I’m already living my dream. Thank you Maddie for everything! Stay tuned for more news!

The American Idol 2019 finale airs on ABC May 19 live coast to coast.  See the cover art for Maddie Poppe’s upcoming album, Whirlwind below.
