NBC’s The Voice tied with FOX’s 9-1-1 as the night’s highest-rated show with a 1.2 in the key 18-49 demo, down a tenth from a 1.3 last Monday. The Voice led the night in total viewers with 7.49 million.
ABC’s American Idol special clip show earned a 0.9 with 5.42 million viewers–down three-tenths from a 1.2 for last week’s first live show. Nevertheless, American Idol came in 2nd behind The Voice with a pre-taped clip package.
Also, ratings for Sunday’s live coast to coast edition of American Idol adjusted up to a 1.3. This week, American Idol beats The Voice ratings. However, it’s worth noting that American Idol has never beat it’s rival in a head to head battle.
Correction: American Idol did beat The Voice on finale night, Monday May 21, 2018 in a match up that wasn’t entirely head to head. The Voice aired their performance final from 8-10 and earned a 1.5 in the demo. American Idol’s grand finale broadcast from 9-11 and garnered a 1.6. More significantly, the Idol grand finale also beat The Voice grand finale which aired the following night, Tuesday May 22. The Voice garnered a 1.5 on Tuesday, matching its Monday night number.
