American Idol Ratings Inspire A Win For the Night

Fox led the Tuesday troops, beating the No. 2 network (ABC in total viewers; NBC among adults 18-49) by 6.71 million viewers and 87 percent in the demo. Fox’s American Idol was, of course, the top-rated show of the evening, with 19.14 million viewers and a 6.7 rating/20 share among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m.

According to Mediaweek, last year at this time was stronger:

But one year earlier, Idol was considerably stronger at 23.96 million viewers and an 8.2/23 in the demo on April 21, 2009, based on the final nationals.

And Glee:

Lead-out Glee, no doubt, is benefiting, with a dominant 13.51 million viewers and a 5.3/14 among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m.
