There are several candidates for elimination tonight. Tim Urban stepped out of his limited comfort zone last night to deliver a sincere, but off-pitch performance of “Better Days”. The judges hated it, but I think Tim has amassed a fan base well beyond the Vote For the Worst peeps. I say he’s still in it for another week.
The judges Save two weeks ago kept Michael Lynche in the game, but he hasn’t changed in a way that would bring new fans into the fold. The judges–except Ellen–were very critical of his performance last night. But, he performed near the end of the lineup, and Simon said he’d probably be around next week. And when Simon says something, it often comes true.

- I predict tonight’s bootee for MTV HERE.
Casey James’ performance was easily the laziest of the night. He’s stagnating, but I think he’s got a fan base that will keep him going.
That leaves Aaron Kelly, who once again bit off more than he could chew in his performance of “I Believe I could Fly” last night. I don’t understand why he doesn’t stick to country where he could have carved a niche out for himself.
Nevertheless, I think Aaron was probably in the bottom 3 last week (although we don’t know for sure), and unless some of Katie’s votes transferred to him, I don’t think he’s done enough to stick around. I believe Aaron can fly–straight back to his tiny hometown in Pennsylvania.
As an aside, I think Crystal Bowersox cleared a big hurdle this week.
This week’s controversy could have derailed her march to the finish line, but she came back with a fantastic performance, finally allowed herself to be vulnerable, and was able to wordlessly and touchingly make up with Seacrest.
I’m beginning to believe she’s going to win this thing. And it’s not as if any one of the remaining 6 comes close to her talent, confidence, and performance skills…
What do you think? Who do you think is going home? Who would you send home if it were up to you?
