American Idol Couple Kat & Alex Get Married (Photos)

Remember American Idol contestants Kat Luna and Alex Garrido. The two lovebirds auditioned as a couple in season 18. At the time, the two were so utterly devoted to one another. Luke Bryan wondered if they were real, while Katy Perry loudly fake cried.

Both singers made it to Hollywood, Alex was eliminated after the two sang a duet, while Kat left the competition after the third round solos.

The two, who announced their engagement last October are now married.

Kat and Alex tied the knot on Friday (Jan 15) in an intimate wedding at Cactus Creek Barn in Dickson, Tennessee, People magazine reports.

For her big day, Kat wore a white gown designed by Essense. The romantic dress featured a beaded lace bodice and a flowy skirt, with a faux fur shawl to match. “I tried on about seven dresses until I finally said yes to the dress,” she told People.

Alex opted for a tuxedo from Jos. A. Bank, which he helped design with pal Zacharias Matthews, paired with boots from Dustin Bowen at Lucchese. As an extra special touch, underneath his cowboy hat, the groom, 27, carried some meaningful memento.

“Alex is going to carry on his tradition of keeping Polaroid photos of us tucked away in his Cowboy hat,” Kat said.

The couple kept COVID-19 protocols in mind. The pandemic limited their guest list, but the couple didn’t plan on having a big wedding in any case.

The couple called on Alex’s godfather and uncle, Pastor Frank Lopez, to officiate the ceremony and chose to forgo writing vows ahead of time, instead “saying whatever comes from the heart in the moment.”

For the reception, the couple chose “I Don’t Dance” by Lee Brice for their first dance. Their guests and their loved ones dined on a menu filled with “southern comfort food” as well as sweets and s’mores from S’more Love bakery.

Additionally, Alex surprised Kat with a song he wrote especially for her. “We’ve been talking about this day since shortly after we met,” Kat told People.
