American Idol 2025 finale is upon us. On Sunday, May 18, Ryan Seacrest will announce the winner of season 23. Either John Foster, Jamal Roberts or Breanna Nix will come away the champ. Earlier this week, we invited fans to predict the season 23 winner and the results are in! Interestingly the WILL win and SHOULD win poll results diverge. Additionally, we’ve compiled the final Facebook views and we RANK the Top 3. And finally, we make our own prediction.
American Idol 2025 Top 3 Rankings
3. Breanna Nix
While Breanna has often shared her life-long struggles with self-confidence, as one of the judges mentioned recently, the stage is her “safe space.” She shines in the gospel realm. It’s probably where she’ll end up after the show is over. But she possesses Carrie Underwood-like pipes that allow her to tackle other genres including country, in addition to big pop and R&B diva numbers. Her vocal range is incredible. She soars to almost-whistle tones with ease. She’s faltered once or twice by picking the wrong song. But between her relatable backstory (stay at home mom who struggles with insecurity) and her vocal gifts, Breanna has become a fan favorite. She was destined for the Top 3, and likely third place behind two singers who have raked in the attention and social media numbers over the course of the competition.
2. Jamal Roberts
While Carrie Underwood predicts John Foster will win season 23, her fellow country music judge Luke Bryan told reporters backstage after Monday’s (May 12) Top 5 reveal that he’s got a “gut feeling” that Jamal will win the show. “My gut has told me Jamal has… [been] a lead all year,” he told the assembled reporters. A Jamal win is not outside the realm of possibility. Judge Lionel Richie is a big fan.
The phys ed. teacher from Meridian Mississippi is hands down the best all-around entertainer of the Top 3. He knows how to work the stage. But can also hold an audience rapt sitting on a stool singing a heartfelt ballad. Also, Jamal puts his own spin on the songs he covers and also possesses a prodigious range and ability to phrase a song. He’s exciting and makes delivering it all seem easy. And he’s racked up millions of social media views over the course of the competition.
1. John Foster
John didn’t start out the competition as a front runner, but here he is. While the country singer doesn’t possess a rangy voice compared to his fellow Top 3 singers, his vocal tone is incredible. It’s radio ready. Also, in a contest that often comes down to likeability, John oozes charm and charisma. He’s only 18, but seems wise and confident beyond his years. He doesn’t seem to have a negative bone in his body. And let’s be real–he’s CUTE. With the right songs, he could become a country music star.
Considering how well male country singers fare on American Idol–out of the seven previous seasons on ABC, three male country singers have taken the crown (Laine Hardy, Chayce Beckham, Noah Thompson). If John wins, he would be the fourth out of eight. Also, John has racked up millions of views on Facebook and other social media sites.
American Idol 2025 Top 3 FINAL Polls
The polls are split. Over 50% of voters predict John Foster will win. But almost 45% of voters feel that Jamal Roberts SHOULD win. While John has fans, don’t sleep on Jamal. The Top 2 has the potential to be a REAL contest.
Also, fans seem to be happy with the Top 3 as over 47% of voters believe that NOBODY was robbed at the Top 5. In other words–Thunderstorm Artis and Slater Nalley were eliminated fairly.
Also, fans give American Idol season 23 a SOLID A rating.

This week, the Facebook views are split between Jamal and John. Jamal garnered the most views on Top 5 night for “Beauty and the Beast.” John smashed Top 7 night as his performance of “Believe” amassed over 2M views (Almost twice Jamal’s 1M views for “A Change is Gonna Come.” Breanna’s numbers lag behind her fellow Top 3 singers–which is NOT a good sign for her.

FINAL PREDICTION
John Foster will WIN American Idol. The singer is a confident, charismatic and extremely charming country music singer competing on a show that seems to favor the country dudes. But he’s more than a pretty face. He possesses a classic, clear and beautiful country tone that’s going to sound incredible on the radio. American Idol’s recording partner, BBR Music, are probably excited to sign him.
However, don’t count the talented R&B singer Jamal Roberts out just yet. As previously mentioned, Jamal is the best all around entertainer in The Top 3. He’s a triple threat, who has racked up his own impressive numbers on social media. The Top 2 will be John and Jamal, and it will be a competition.
Breann Nix will finish in third place, but after the confetti falls, there is a good chance she’ll get snapped up by a CCM record label.
American Idol Finale guest stars…
Performing on the three hour finale, and alongside the contestants will be Patti LaBelle, Good Charlotte, Goo Goo Dolls, Josh Groban, Brandon Lake, Jessica Simpson, Salt N Pepa, Myles Smith, Kirk Franklin, The War and Treaty, PJ Morton and Jennifer Holliday. Plus, Artist in Residence Jelly Roll, and judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie will take the stage.
Confirmed: Gabby Samone will sing with Jennifer Holliday, Thunderstorm Artis will perform with The War and Treaty. Kolbi Jordan will duet with her mentor Patti Labelle.
