Watch American Idol 2019 Hopefuls Sing Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” VIDEO

American Idol Oscar Commercial

ABC aired a special American Idol performance during Sunday’s (Feb 24) 91st Academy Awards telecast. The clip featured a group of singers set for next Sunday’s (March 3) premiere.

Keeping within the Oscar theme, the hopefuls sang the beloved Queen hit, “Don’t Stop Me Now.” Queen + Adam Lambert opened the Oscars with a rockin’ performance of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions! Additionally, the Freddie Mercury biopic won FOUR awards. Check out the full list of Oscar winners HERE.

Sticking with American Idol tradition, the group number is as cheesy as all get out. But we DO get a good look at the singers who will be featured on the American Idol 2019 season premiere on March 3. Yay!  For more contestant previews, check out our recap of the American Idol preview ABC aired as part of their Oscar Sunday lineup:

Pro tip: I would advise fans to wait until next Sunday to take full measure of the singers’ talents. I recently watched a screener of the premiere and there are some VERY GOOD singers mixed in with this bunch. There are also a couple of joke contestants. Can you guess who? Ha.

By the way, it’s totally cool to namecheck singers you recognize. But please do not spoil any outcomes in the post comments! There are spoiler posts for that:
