I’m live blogging the American Idol 12 TCA 13 panel right here… Look for A summary later.
FOX Executives, Nigel Lythgoe, the Idol judges and Ryan Seacrest were present at the panel. Mariah and Nicki barely tolerated each other according to this panel report from ET Online.
If you ask my opinion, the two seem to tolerate one another — barely. Throughout the panel, both made faces while the other spoke and their eyes nearly rolled out of their heads countless times. The more they were pressed to explain the feud, the more they seemed to get one another’s nerves. Needless to say, their fighting will be a storyline (both for the show and for the press) all season long, and is primed to boil over in the live shows once the editors no longer have control.
The reporters present whom I followed on twitter were very taken with Nicki Minaj’s “no bullshit” attitude. They also loved Keith Urban’s pragmatism. There was lots of eye rolling at Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey. One of Mariah’s big snarkworthy moments came when Mariah declared “Yay Nannies!” when asked about how she juggled work and “dem babies.” Heh.
