More rumors regarding the American Idol Live 2018 tour from TheIdolPad:
- The Top 7 will tour, including Cade Foehner, Caleb Lee Hutchinson, Catie Turner, Gabby Barrett, Jurnee, Maddie Poppe, Michael J Woodard
- American Idol season 8 winner Kris Allen will host the tour (I’m assuming he’ll perform as well? Otherwise, what would be the point of having him along)
- Remember last summer’s ABC reality series BoyBand? It only got one season, but it did have a winner, In Real Life. They will be the show’s opening act.
- The tour will offer “a set of bonus performances by the finalists, as part of various ticket packages.” I’m not sure what that means.
- Tickets will go on sale to the general public Friday, May 11th. Presales include ABC Presale – May 8. American Express card member presale – May 9th. Venue presale – May 10th.
Tickets have already been advertised at a couple of venues including the Mountain Winery in Saratoga California and Wente Vineyards in Livermore. When the summer tour was all but confirmed, it seemed to indicate the American Idol would get another season on ABC. That announcement was made earlier today.
I would imagine the tour details will be revealed on Sundays Top 7 performance show, which will feature the Prince catalog, and Songs from the Year They Were Born.
The season 14 tour only featured a Top 5, so this upcoming tour is a step up…
UPDATE: Variety is reporting the tour is booking small to medium venues and will begin on July 1 and run at least 8 weeks. The tour will be managed by Jared Paul, awhose clients include New Kids on the Block, Sabrina Carpenter and Lea Michele and whose company Faculty has produced several touring productions of television shows including Glee, Dancing with the Stars and America’s Got Talent.
They report In Real Life as the openers and tease a “Top 2 American Idol alum” will not only host, but headline.
