Song Spoilers for Tonight

The three finalists will sing a song of their choice and a celebrity duet. At the end of the show, one of them will be eliminated in third place.

There will be some guest performances tonight, too. Louis Tomlinson is expected to make his solo debut. His new single with Steve Aoki “Just Hold On” is apparently about his mother’s battle with leukemia. She died on Wednesday morning, so let’s hope Louis makes it through the song.

And we are live from Wembley Arena in London! After months of auditions and live shows, it’s almost over!

We are starting with a video of the TOP 3’s X Factor journeys. They all want to win tomorrow night.

Wembley Arena seems to be packed with 10 thousand people. Dermot arrives on a motorbike and drives right on stage like a James Bond! He introduces the 4 judges. Simon is wearing glasses that look less than fashionable. He will be the voice of reason and impartiality. He wants somebody to step up tonight.

We are starting with a group performance. First up, the guy whose name I forgot, he is trying to get the people in the zone. The live shows finalists are singing Little Mix’s “Shout Out to My Ex”. The final 3 sing DNCE’s “Cake By The Ocean” and Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop The Feeling”. Dermot talks to the Final 3.

The vote is now open! Order: 5AM, Matt, Saara.

5 After Midnight – Crazy in Love (Beyonce feat. Jay Z)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRgJW6QHUJ8
They went on a campaign trail with their bus. Capital FM, Louis … They went to Jordan’s house first. Louis looks crazy and out of place. Then, Nathan’s house. We see mothers crying and the boys crying … Then we go to Kieran’s hometown, Leicester. They play “You Raise Me Up”, the boys think that song is less than cool, but Louis says it was a #1 … Westlife, probably. Lots of shouts from the girls at their Leicester gig.
For their performance they get something that looks like a helicopter on stage. It’s a big production, boys dance with female dancers. Kieran sings to a strong backing track. At least he can sing no worse than most relevant popstars on charts. Dance break.
Nicole compliments their energy, says they did awesome job. Sharon repeats the energy comment, says they got great response. Simon says “it worked” because the boys worked hard, overcame their bad nights, etc. Louis says the boys worked hard and asks people to vote. At the end of their interview they show Kieran’s somersaults. Matt and Rylan chat to their supporters somewhere.

Matt Terry – Take Me Home (Jess Glynne)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agFQxoRp0K4
Matt started with press interviews and then went to his parents’ house to pick up his family. We see a lot of supporters. Matt sits down with his family who are all very proud of him. Then they drive to Bromley for Matt’s homecoming gig. Matt visits the restaurant here he used to work as a waiter. In the evening he meets Nicole in his old flat. Girls are going crazy for Matt on the streets.
Matt is singing a ballad for his performance and has additional lightning on stage. This performance is definitely putting more emphasis on vocals. He also gets some dancers and at the end even a choir at the end.
Louis compliments his amazing vocal performance and his consistency. Sharon loved the drama, says he deserved to be in the final. Sharon compliments the song choice, he says he was a little bit distracted by the dancers, but says he sang well. Nicole says she was fixated on Matt, says he is the golden boy with the golden voice and asks England to get behind Matt. Dermot then chats to Matt and asks him about his bottom 2 appearance last week. Matt gives a good answer. Then we see Nicole showing her legs after one of Matt’s performances. Rylan and Matt chat to Matt Terry’s supporters.

Saara Aalto – Everybody Wants to Rule The World (Tears For Fears)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Odz0SOStVfw
Sharon begs the viewers to vote for Saara even though she is foreign. She went to Heart FM for an interview. We see Sharon tell Saara she is going to Helsinki. We know that Sharon couldn’t go with her. She gets huge reception at the airport from the people and local media. She went to her and her fiancee’s house. We see her parents. Dermot picks her up and they go to one of the main squares in Helsinki. She performs on the steps in front of a large building. The evening ends with fireworks.
Saara starts the performance on the floor, laying on top of dancers. She then gets up. I’m not sure about that choreography or the song choice, to be honest. She then sings at the top of the stairs while dancers dance below. She ends the performance on a good note.
Louis says he loved her from day 1, he compliments her work ethic. Nicole compliments her homecoming and the performance. Simon says everything about the performance was incredible. Sharon says Saara is just getting bigger and bigger. We see Saara’s reactions when she made it through on Sunday nights. Rylan and Matt chat with Saara’s supporters outside.

Our first guest performance tonight is One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson with DJ Steve Aoki. They are performing their new song “Just Hold On”. They lyrics must be about Louis’ mother Johannah. She died on Wednesday morning after a battle with leukemia. She was very supportive of her son and proud of his success. She wanted to see Louis perform solo tonight, but it was not meant to be. Louis is known to be the One Direction member with the worst vocals, so let’s see and hear how this goes.

At the end of the performance Dermot gives Simon a chance to speak and he praises Louis and gives his condolences.

Celebrity duets after the break.

5 After Midnight & Clean Bandit feat. Louisa Johnson – TEARS
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8BKJYC98UM
Louis speaks to the boys about their inspirations.
Well, last year’s champion is performing a celebrity duet this year. I don’t think this is the ideal duet for 5AM, but I guess that was all X Factor could get. The performance is a mess.

Matt Terry & Nicole Scherzinger – Purple Rain (Prince)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MazYEwev6q4
Next, a segment about Matt Terry and Nicole. The segment with Louis and 5 AM seemed a little fake, but this is a lot better.
The song choice – AMAZING. Pure genius. Nicole might single handedly drag Matt into the TOP 2. I knew she would do everything she possibly could for him.

Saara Aalto & Adam Lambert – Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSuD6SNxwCM
Sharon and Saara speak about Saara’s X Factor journey. She says she didn’t get support from Finland. Dissing your own homeland like that is not cool, Saara.
Saara starts the duet playing the piano. Adam comes out on the second verse. Then they skip a big part of the song and go to the bridge. Eeeh. I wish they did “Who Wants to Live Forever”. “Bohemian Rhapsody” is iconic, but has unique structure and it’s hard to cut it down like that and on top make it work as a duet.

And that’s all from the contestants for tonight. The voting is still open.

Next, Honey G is performing “Men in Black” (Will Smith) and “Jump” (Kris Kross). Honey G is releasing a single on December 23rd.

Dermot gives the 5 minute warning.

After the break, Dermot says they got 2 million votes. The vote is now frozen.

Next, The Weeknd is performing. He starts with “Can’t Feel My Face” and then transitions to “Starboy”. Poor guy has to censor himself in order not to upset the Ofcom. That was kinda underwhelming.

The results after the break.

Matt And Rylan chat to contestants’ families.

The Results

The finalists and their judges come on stage.

TOP 2
Saara Aalto
Matt Terry

3rd PLACE: 5 After Midnight

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jbaeb6yHe4

This was kinda expected after both performances tonight. 5AM opened the show with a big number that put the focus on dancing. It was a good show opener. The other two acts then gave two strong vocal performances.
For the second round 5AM again went first and had a duet that just didn’t suit them. Matt and Nicole absolutely smashed it and Saara and Adam Lambert did well with their duet (they could do even better with a different song).

The vote is now reopened. I expect Matt and Saara will reprise one of their performances from the season and sing their potential winners’ singles (Ed Sheeran’s song ?).

Kylie Minogue, Madness and Little Mix are also performing tomorrow night.
