Leona Lewis interview: ‘I want to give people the best of me’
Almost two years after releasing her second album Echo, Leona Lewis is back. With a new look and sound, the Hackney songstress is preparing to release her new album Glassheart in November.

Digital Spy caught up with Leona just minutes after she performed single ‘Collide’ on ITV’s Red or Black? on Saturday night. Read on to find out more about the album, collaborations and the 26-year-old’s strong views on the London riots.

Leona Lewis debuted the title track from her third album Glassheart over the weekend.

Following her performance of new single ‘Collide’ on ITV1 gameshow Red or Black?, the 26-year-old made her first appearance at London’s G-A-Y, where she performed a four-song set.

Leona Lewis takes a career U-turn: The Hackney-born star on her new sound and style
We have to admit we’re rather fond of Leona Lewis’ change of direction. Having split from her childhood sweetheart, the former X Factor winner has also distanced herself from Mr Cowell and released a new, edgier sounding album that spans influences from Kate Bush to Tracy Chapman.

So what prompted the transformation? Leona explains to Stylist that, although life is going swimmingly now, many of the songs on her third album Glass Heart were inspired by recent hard times. “It has a darker tone to it. It’s got a lot of depth and different styles on there, ” she admitted.

Gary Barlow is on to a winner with Ronan Parke
SIMON Cowell is single-handedly keeping Gary Barlow in work.

Alongside his X Factor judging role, Gaz is also writing for Cowell’s talent show graduates – including Britain’s Got Talent teen Ronan Parke.

The Take That skipper – also behind Matt Cardle’s new single Run For Your Life – has penned a song called Stronger Than I Am for Ronan’s self-titled debut album, out October 24.

EMOTIONAL Gary Barlow has told how he struggled to “find himself” again after his life fell apart when he lost his solo record deal.

The X Factor judge, 40, opened up to the boys he is mentoring in the contest, urging them to learn from his experience.

He delivered the heartfelt two-hour chat to the young singers after they arrived in Los Angeles for training.

The Take That singer has spent days with his category of contestants – believed to be the boys – even taking them for a ‘last supper’ ahead of his Judges Houses’ elimination stage.

While in previous years contestants have complained that they have had little attention from Cowell – often just the occasional text at this point in the competition – Barlow, 41, has gone all out.

And perhaps the true test lies with the release of second single Run For Your Life.

The track was penned by Gary Barlow, so it’s no surprise to discover it’s a crooning ballard with uplifting lyrics about starting afresh and going on a journey to find a new love interest.
