Fraudster who pretended to be an accountant to dupe X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson out of thousands of pounds is jailed
A woman who swindled X Factor star Rebecca Ferguson out of thousands of pounds has been jailed.

Rachel Taylor lied to the singer, her former friend, about being a qualified accountant in order to take her money, the court heard.

Ms Ferguson, who was runner-up on the 2010 series of the reality show, paid Taylor more than £43,000 as the mother-of-two handled her personal and professional bills.

Taylor even kept £3,350 intended to set up a trust fund for Ferguson’s daughter Lillie Mae.

Taylor, 54, from Southport, Merseyside, was today jailed for 16 months at Liverpool Crown Court after admitting to two counts of fraud.

Her husband, Raymond Taylor, was also convicted of fraud after police uncovered a bogus application for a £32,000 student grant.

Nick Grimshaw ‘to be officially declared as an X Factor judge in the next 24 hours’ after finalising contract with Simon Cowell this weekend
Nick Grimshaw will reportedly be named as the latest judge on the X Factor within the next 24 hours after finalising his contract with show boss Simon Cowell over the weekend.

The Radio 1 presenter, 30, has been at the centre of rumours regarding a revamped panel for the 12th series of the popular singing competition – with pal Rita Ora also being touted as another target.

Pop-supremo Simon Cowell, 55, seems to have Grimmy firmly in his sights to replace an out-of-favour Louis Walsh, with a source telling The Sun the official announcement will happen ‘today or tomorrow’.

As Nick Grimshaw joins X Factor despite plunging ratings for his Radio 1 show… We chart the curious rise of the man who knows EVERYONE
His unveiling as a host on The X Factor this week was the ultimate triumph of style over substance.

He has never made a record, never signed an act nor produced a song. Yet Nick Grimshaw, the Radio 1 breakfast show host, was paraded alongside chart toppers Rita Ora and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini as if he were the second coming.

Shirt slashed to the navel, hairy chest competing for attention against suspiciously white teeth, he looked like a younger, thinner version of the man who has just hired him.

Yet while Simon Cowell, for all his sins, has proved himself beyond doubt as a genuine hitmaker, Grimshaw’s main achievement so far this year is to propel his radio show’s ratings to a record decline.

It was enough to prompt Radio 1 controller Ben Cooper to make a rare public announcement last month. ‘I’m pleased that Grimmy is doing what I’ve asked of him by keeping his young audience happy and scaring off the over-30s,’ he said.

Yet Grimshaw’s ‘record’, let us be clear, was to achieve a new low for Radio 1’s breakfast show listeners in 12 years. Indeed, since taking over the breakfast show from Chris Moyles in 2012 he’s somehow persuaded one in five listeners to switch off, yet he is being praised for attracting ‘yoof’.

Who cares how many people are tuning in when you are the most achingly trendy man in the land? Who needs ratings when your best mates are pop star Harry Styles, models Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne, pop star Taylor Swift and It Girl Alexa Chung? With style like this, who needs substance?
