When does American Idol 2024 premiere? See the ABC 2024 mid-season schedule below
The ABC television network announced its 2024 Midseason schedule on Thursday (Nov 16), which includes the official premiere date–Sunday February 18–for American Idol.
Television networks and streamers 2023-2024 schedules were in limbo as massive writers and actors strikes lasted for months. The writers strike ended in September, which allowed series to prepare for upcoming seasons. But it wasn’t until the actors strike ended in early November that planning for midseason could commence in earnest.
Reality shows like American Idol and The Bachelor could have proceeded amid the strikes. But the networks couldn’t nail down the EXACT broadcast days and times until they had a handle on the status of their scripted programming. Remember how long it took the network to announce that Dancing with the Stars would air on Tuesdays this fall to make way for Monday Night Football? The strikes threw schedules into chaos. (Oh, and hey, not to mention that it turned out DWTS was covered by WGA after all….Oops).
Actually American Idol announced the February 18 premiere date when it unveiled its first promo of the season on the Country Music Awards. The Academy Awards, which airs on Sunday March 10 will only push a one hour episode of American Idol out to 1 am in the morning!
Joey Graziadei begins his journey to find love when The Bachelor premieres on Monday January 24. The historic competition series American Idol premieres Season 22 (Seven on ABC) Sunday, Feb. 18.
Additional programming to be announced in the coming weeks.
