ABC/Disney Confirms Dancing with the Stars 32 will air on Tuesdays, Jamie Lynn Spears joins the cast
It’s official, Dancing With The Stars season 32 will return to ABC and Disney+ at 8pm ET on Tuesday, 26th September 2023. It’s a move from the show’s historical time slot. The reasoning is to avoid conflicts with Monday night football on ABC.
It took the network awhile to confirm the date officially, but these are not normal times as both the Writers Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild are on strike throwing schedules into chaos. Switching the show to Tuesday night meant that judge Derek Hough needed to cancel and reschedule shows on his upcoming tour, which is a pretty big deal!
The 9/26 premiere will feature an expanded version of the show, followed that night with a special Dancing with the Stars cast episode of Celebrity Family Feud.
Jamie Lynn Spears and pro dancer Alan Bersten will compete on DWTS 32
Also, on Monday morning, Good Morning America revealed another DWTS cast member, Jamie Lynn Spears, who will partner with pro dancer Alan Bersten, who will join the already announced Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix and Bachelorette Charity Lawson in the cast. The remaining cast and their pro partners will be revealed on GMA Wednesday September 13.
Jamie will donate her DWTS salary to striking SAG and WGA members
It sure is dicey for an actress to appear on television amid an actors strike. While Jamie is not technically breaking any rules by competing on a reality show, it still could be a bad look. Instead of taking the money, Jamie shares that she’ll donate money that she earns on Dancing with the Stars to striking Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild members. She told GMA that she feels privileged to give back to the industry that has given her so much.
Rumored cast members to date include actress Mira Sorvino and American Idol and The Masked Singer alum David Archuleta. David will reportedly compete in a same-sex partnership. Additional spoilers include all 14 pro dancers who are competing this season.
Dancing with the Stars will air this fall on ABC and Disney+
Judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough (Julianne’s brother) and Bruno Tonioli will all return for the new season. Former head judge Len Goodman passed away in April after a battle with bone cancer. He officially retired at the end of season 31.
