Scotty McCreery has had quite the year! He capped it off with an appearance on the CMA Country Christmas special which aired on ABC December 8. It’s currently available to stream on Hulu and Disney +
The American Idol season 10 winner and country singer performed the beloved holiday classic, “Holly Jolly Christmas” in a rockabilly style backed by a band and fiddle player.
The 13th annual holiday special blended holiday favorites with several original songs performed in an intimate at-home setting. Carly Pearce hosted and the special also featured performances from Dan + Shay, Old Dominion, Maren Morris, The War and Treaty and more. The event was filmed in Nashville.
As far as Scotty’s eventful year is concerned, the singer released a Deluxe version of his Same Truck album, including 6 new tracks.
But the biggest most exciting event of Scotty’s year: He and his wife Gabi welcomed their first child in October, Merrick Avery McCreery.
“Next to his mother, he is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” said Scotty in a press statement. “We have been waiting and preparing all year, and now we are so excited to have our little man here with us. We have begun a grand new adventure that will continue for the rest of our lives.”

And as a bonus performance, Scotty recently covered Elvis Presley’s version of “Santa Clause is Back in Town” for the CMT Campfire Sessions. “If you know anything about me,” said Scotty, “You know I love Christmas and I LOVE Christmas music.” He added in the clip before performing, “I sing it all year long–on the bus, backstage, at home, it’s constant.”
But what the singer especially loves is Christmas music from the King himself, Elvis Presley. “It’s as good as it gets,” said Scott, who performed an acoustic version of what he called, one of his favorite Elvis Christmas songs.
