Watch: Laine Hardy and Jimmie Allen 2022 Rose Parade Performances

The 2022 Rose Bowl Parade took place on New Year’s Day after last year’s event was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. All the floats, marching bands, dancers and more paraded down the streets of Pasadena ahead of the big game between the Utah Utes and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Laine Hardy and Jimmie Allen were also part of the year’s festivities. Laine performed at mid-point, representing Louisiana Travel. Jimmie performed as the parade’s grand finale.

After winning American Idol in 2019, Laine, a Louisiana native, became the official brand ambassador for state tourism.  The singer road on a float that showcased moss-draped cypress trees, a Cajun fisherman in a pirogue, sculptured magnolias, pelicans, crawfish, crabs, and powdered sugar covered beignets. A wrought-iron balcony and French Quarter-style lamp posts completed the float.

Laine performed Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Born On The Bayou” backed by the Hot 8 Brass band. At one point, the singer jumped off the float and onto the street to perform a guitar solo.

The parade finale featured American Idol and Dancing with the Stars alum Jimmie Allen who performed his song “Good Times Roll” amid dancers and confetti. Later, Ohio State won the football game 48-45.
