VIDEO PREMIERE: Cassadee Pope’s “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart”!

Cassadee Pope-I Wish I Could Break Your Heart-still
Season 3 Voice champ Cassadee Pope is set to follow her 1st solo hit, the soon-to-be platinum “Wasting All These Tears,” with her 2nd single to country radio, and has premiered the video even before the single has an adds date. Check out the video for “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart,” cowritten by Jon Green, critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Ashley Monroe, and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Gordie Sampson:

The song is another catchy pop/rocker right in Cassadee’s wheelhouse, and the video features a lot of Cassadee looking pretty while surrounded by glass hearts. She looks every bit the star, and headbangs and air-guitars like a pro during the guitar solo (maybe channeling the vibe from her contribution to Big Machine Label Group’s upcoming Motley Crue country tribute album?).

Cassadee is set to join superstar Tim McGraw’s upcoming “Sundown Heaven Town” tour this summer. She will also be performing Friday at Country Radio Seminar’s New Faces show, 1 of 5 new acts voted through by country radio. She scored a #10 hit at country radio just as more and more outlets, including The Tennessean today are talking about country radio’s failure to claim and support the original music of 3 of the most critically-revered singer-songwriters in country music, Brandy Clark, Kacey Musgraves, and “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart” cowriter Ashley Monroe. That’s symbolic of the gap between country radio and country music these days.

Do you think “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart” can extend Cassadee’s success at on the country format, and what do you think of the strategy of debuting the video before even sending the single to radio?
