BETTE MIDLER TO PERFORM ON THE OSCARS® – Two-time Oscar®-nominated actress and multiple Grammy Award®-winning singer Bette Midler will perform for the first time on the Oscars®, show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron announced today. The Oscars, hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will air on SUNDAY, MARCH 2 live on ABC. “We are thrilled to have Bette perform on the Oscars for the very first time,” said Zadan and Meron. “We believe she will make our Oscar telecast an especially moving evening.” – Read more at TVByTheNumbers

Ryan Seacrest’s Typo Seeks Order BlackBerry Patents Aren’t Valid – Ryan Seacrest’s Typo Products LLC asked a U.S. judge to find that BlackBerry Ltd. (BBRY:US) is seeking to enforce patents that aren’t valid in its lawsuit to block Typo from shipping a new iPhone case. BlackBerry’s patent claims are invalid because they don’t comply with the legal requirements for patentability, Typo said in a request yesterday in federal court in San Francisco for a ruling that the patents aren’t infringed. – Read more at Business Week

Carrie Underwood receives broadcasters’ Humanitarian Award – Carrie Underwood remembers seeing her parents pull their car over to offer money to people in need. She remembers them setting examples by helping people at church. And since she’s been in a position to follow their lead and start giving back, Underwood has made helping children and animals her passion. “They need us,” the country star told The Tennessean this morning. “They haven’t made any wrong decisions in their lives. They haven’t done anything to anyone that could be malicious.
