Season 3 Voice champ Cassadee Pope has been tweeting since last November that she was joining a big tour this summer, and that became official this morning when Live Nation announced the 2014 Country Megaticket lineup. Cassadee will be on the 2014 Tim McGraw Sundown Heaven Town tour this summer as a secondary supporting act. MCA Nashville’s Kip Moore will be the primary support act on many dates, but it appears Cassadee may be Tim’s primary support act in some venues where Kip Moore will not appear.
Here are the cities that Tim McGraw’s Sundown Heaven Town tour is set to visit with dates & venues where available. Cassadee is in the lineup for both festivals listed in his tour.

Last summer, Cassadee was the secondary support act on the Rascal Flatts tour with The Band Perry. Both Rascal Flatts and Tim McGraw (and The Band Perry) are, like Cassadee, Big Machine Label Group acts. There’s no genre of music with the kind of touring infrastructure to give new acts exposure on high profile tours like country, which was likely part of Cassadee’s calculation when she decided to market to the country crowd. Carrie Underwood provided secondary support for the Kenny Chesney tour and primary support for the Brad Paisley tour in 2006, Kellie Pickler supported the Brad Paisley tour in 2007 (as a secondary opener) and a Sugarland tour in 2008 (as a primary opener), Danny Gokey and Casey James provided secondary support for the Sugarland tour in 2010 and 2011, respectively, Scotty McCreery supported the Brad Paisley tour in 2012 (as a secondary opener), Lauren Alaina provided secondary support for Jason Aldean’s 2012 tour with Luke Bryan and then primary support for Sugarland’s 2012 tour, and Danielle Bradbery is currently providing secondary support for Brad Paisley’s tour.
Tim McGraw’s newly released single, “Lookin’ For That Girl” is basically a pop song with a Tone Loc reference and heavy autotuning, so he is not shy about jumping on pop trends, even if they are dated by a few years. But he has a strong catalog of hits that makes him a reliable tour draw, and being part of the Country Megaticket lineup will only goose his attendance numbers and the possible exposure for support acts (as it does for every show and act included).
