Tyra Banks Claims Dancing with the Stars May Ditch Live Audiences Again

(ABC/Eric McCandless) TYRA BANKS

Dancing with the Stars host and executive producer Tyra Banks claims that she’s not quite sure if the show will have a live audience again when it returns for season 30 in the the fall.

“We’ve been talking about it, back and forth,” Tyra told Entertainment Tonight in a new interview. “[But] probably not, if I really think about ultimate safety… maybe not yet.”

The Voice and America’s Got Talent brought back Live Audiences, so Why Wouldn’t Dancing with the Stars?

This is an incredible statement, considering that most talent shows are bringing back live audiences after COVID-19 restrictions forced them to go virtual last year. For instance, The Voice recently completed filming the season 21 Blind Auditions with a studio full of vaccinated audience members. Fans were tested for COVID-19 AND had to prove they were fully vaxxed before the network allowed them to participate.

Also, when America’s Got Talent live shows begin in August, the studio will be filled with a fully vaxxed audience.

Yes, the dangerous COVID-19 Delta variant is on the rise. But every vaccine available is proven effective against it. Frankly, I wonder if Tyra knows what she’s talking about, or is merely speculating. I suspect it’s the latter. I will be SHOCKED if Dancing with the Stars does not return with at least a limited, fully vaxxed live audience.

Will Carrie Ann Inaba return to the show?

Also in the ET interview, Tyra addressed the status of Carrie Ann Inaba. The DWTS judge is currently on a leave of absence from the CBS afternoon talk show, The Talk in order to address her health issues. Tyra said she hopes Carrie Ann will return to the panel. “She was there way before I was,” Tyra said. “So I’m gonna be begging her, ‘Please, Baby, please! You gonna be there, right?'”

Carrie Ann stepped away from The Talk in April to “focus on my well-being.” In her announcement, Carrie Ann said, “I know you guys understand, health is the most important thing, so, I appreciate your support. I appreciate the love and support from The Talk family, and I hope to be back soon. Take care.”

Len Goodman returns along with the rest of the panel

Dancing with the Stars will celebrate its 30th milestone season when it returns to ABC this coming fall. Carrie Ann is due to return, as are her fellow judges Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough. And, Len Goodman will be rejoining the panel after COVID-19 travel restrictions kept him in the UK last year. Meanwhile, Bruno will once again skip sitting on the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing judges panel due to pandemic related issues.
