Tuesday Daily Number’s Thread – 01/05/16

Today’s number thread is brought to you by the numbers 10 and 30.

Billboard Hot 100 reports a top 10 that is still fairly stagnant. Adele continues to top the Hot 100 for her 10th week with “Hello”. It is the 31st song in the Hot 100’s history to top the chart for that long (there have been 1048 number ones on the Hot 100). It topped the digital download chart with 327K – impressive when you consider how many weeks the song has been at the top of the digital chart and how many albums she has moved. It has sold 3.7M so far.

Bieber notches three songs on the top 5 with “Sorry” continuing at number 2 for its 9th week, “Love Yourself” parking itself in 3rd and “What Do You Mean” building a house at 5th. Drake is comfortable in the top 5 as well with his hip “Hotline Bing” holding down spot number 4.

Shawn Mendes’s “Stitches” moves back up to 6th with a big spike in sales (140K, +171%) while his duet with Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello (“I Know What You Did Last Summer” lifts to 28th on the Hot 100. Selena Gomez moves back a spot to 7th and Alessa Cara’s “Here” slides to 8th. twenty one pilots get their first Hot 100 top 10 with “Stressed Out” at 9th and Meghan Trainor retains her spot at 10th with “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” with John Legend.

That means we wave goodbye to The Weeknd who snaps his long streak of top 10 songs. Canadians now hold only 6 spots in the top 10.

In other news, Forbes has their annual top 30 under 30 list out and Pentatonix makes the list.
