‘American Idol’ gears up for final run – “All of us (realize) this is the last time we’ll do each one of these episodes,” Seacrest says. “This year, I want to make sure I am present and enjoying every single aspect of what makes this show great.” “I think we have a couple of stars, (but) they have to prove over time that they’re a star with their performances, their consistency, how they handle pressure,” Lopez says. “The girls really stand out. ‘American Idol’ prepares for final season after 15 game-changing years – “It not only was a huge success for Fox but impacted everyone else,” said Bill Carroll, media analyst with Katz Television Group. “It once again underscored the fact that broadcast television is communal and an event.” The live “Idol” episodes increased that appetite and launched the networks’ embrace of a variety of other live broadcasts that included NBC’s musicals “The Sound of Music” and “The Wiz.” Urban said he’s focused less on the show’s farewell than what he calls the “job at hand.” “I more often forget it’s the last season until somebody mentions it,” the country music star said during a production break at the Dolby Theatre. “It’s just finding the right person and making sure we don’t miss somebody.” – Read more at The Associated Press

It’s taken me a long time to get there.” “It’s a celebration of show that had a huge cultural impact, and I was a part of that,” Dunkleman said. “I’m proud of the fact that I got the job in the first place. It’s an accomplishment that can never be taken away from me, regardless of my outcome.” – Read more at CNN

Remember when ‘American Idol’ was great? Yeah, me too. – For me, American Idol, which begins its 15th and final season at 8 p.m. Wednesday on Fox, lost its charm when Crystal Bowersox fell to Lee DeWyze in the ninth season. Bowersox sounded like Janis Joplin reincarnated and looked more like a subway busker than a pop star. Lee DeWyze looked like a guy who thought a soul patch was a beneficial fashion choice. – Read more at Philly.com
