American Idol season 9 alum Tori Kelly recently dropped a 5 track EP Solitude, which she recorded during COVID-19 quarantine. And now she’s promoting it–remotely of course. Last week, she told James Corden from the CBS Late Late Show that she has a studio in her house in Los Angeles. “All I’ve been doing is recording,” she said of her time in quarantine.
In fact, other than sending tracks back and forth to producers, she recorded all of Solitude in her home studio. “It felt like I was going back to my roots,” Tori shared. “Because my very first EP was also done completely in my childhood bedroom at my parents old house.”
One of the songs on the EP is a cover of Drake’s “Time Flies.” Tori explained why she recorded it: “I knew I wanted to do a cover…because I wanted to pay tribute to my roots, and the start of my career.” Tori made a name for herself playing covers on Youtube. And of course, she caught the public’s eye doing the same on American Idol.
