Two The Voice Alums Sit atop the Billboard 200

Two The Voice alums sit atop The Billboard 200 this week. Morgan Wallen and Melanie Martinez take the No. 1 and No 2 spots respectively.

Season 6 singer Morgan Wallen’s album One Thing at a Time continues it’s at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, as the album spends a fifth straight and total week atop chart (dated April 15). The set earned 173,000 equivalent album units in the United States in the week ending April 6 (down 12%), according to Luminate. One Thing at a Time debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 dated March 18 and has held in place ever since.

“This record is as personal and honest as I know how to be, and represents my journey over the past two years,” Morgan said in a press statement upon release of the album. “I loved being back in the studio making new music and I’m super excited to see what my fans think because this is for you guys.”

Melanie Martinez makes her highest charting debut on the Billboard 200 ever

Also in the top 10 of the new Billboard 200 chart, Melanie Martinez, who competed on season 2, scores her highest-charting album yet with the No. 2 debut of Portals, which dropped on March 31.

The set is her third studio album, and includes the official first single “Void,” written and produced by Melanie, as well as the album’s opening track, “Death,” the latter of which recently made history as the singer-songwriter’s first-ever original song to debut on Billboard’s Hot 100 and her biggest first week streams to date. “Death” is joined by a cinematic companion video – directed, conceived, and costume designed by Melanie herself – which trended #1 on YouTube’s Trending Top Music Videos chart with over 8.1M views in just one week following its official premiere viewed by a live audience exceeding 80K.

Portals marks Melanie Martinez’s first full-length release in nearly four years. She released K-12 in September 2019 and her debut Crybaby in 2015. Melanie’s “Portals” tour kicks off on May 30 at Fillmore Auditorium in Denver making stops across the U.S. and Canada in San Francisco, New York, Chicago and more before wrapping up in Montreal at MTELUS on July 15.
