The Voice Virtual Auditions Begin 6/18, But What About Filming?

The Voice Open Calls Are Scheduled to Kick Off  This Week

Usually, The Voice Open Audition Calls happen in person across the country. But with Covid-19 lockdowns still in effect, producers will be auditioning hopeful singers online.

The Voice has scheduled Virtual Open Calls for Thursday June 18, Friday June 19, Thursday June 25 and Friday June 26. In The Voice Open Calls, producers are looking for singers to perform for the coaches in the Blind Auditions.

How to Register

To register, create an artist account and click/tap Virtual Open Call (complete the agreements first). Select a day and time to audition and watch a countdown begin. Hopefuls will receive an email confirming VOC date & time. Look for an email reminder 24 hours before the scheduled audition.

Have a verse and chorus of one song prepared to sing. Hopefuls will have 1:30 (one minute thirty seconds) to audition. During the audition, auditioners must introduce themselves, announce the song and sing. Hopefuls may sing a cappella, accompany themselves on an instrument, or sing to a track. Make sure to have everything ready to go BEFORE entering the virtual audition room.

Auditioners must be at least thirteen (13) years of age by August 14, 2020 in order to audition.

Eligibility Section Hints Show May Not Film in Los Angeles

The eligibility section states that hopefuls must be willing to travel to Los Angeles, CA, for up to seven  days in August/September 2020 (or as otherwise scheduled by Producer) for the final selection process. Pre-approved economy travel (round-trip to and from Los Angeles, CA, and home in the United States) and lodging will be provided and paid for by the Producers.

Also, if an artist is selected as a participant, they must be willing to travel to and reside at one or more undisclosed locations in the United States for several weeks at any time in September 2020 thru April 2021. Producers will pay for Economy travel.

Interesting to note that the second paragraph doesn’t mention Los Angeles. Would the Blind Auditions film in another state if California remains a Covid hotspot?

Production is opening up in Los Angeles this month. But at the same time, Covid-19 cases have been increasing in Los Angeles county. NBC has not announced The Voice coaching lineup for the fall season  yet. Suffice it to say, taping for the fall blind auditions have not been scheduled yet, either. Or maybe they have? There’s a good chance production will film the Blinds without a studio audience.
