The Voice season 12 Knockouts began Monday (April 3) and there were a couple of surprises. I expected Alicia Keys to hold on to the talented songstress, Lilli Passero. But, it’s obvious she’s really interested in keeping her team diverse. She knows what to do for the soulful Lilli, but country singer Ashley Levin can provide more of a challenge.

Also I didn’t get Adam Levine choosing the young classic rock singer, Josh West, over the effortlessly talented Johnny Hays. But similar to the Alicia situation, maybe Adam would rather help nurture a young talent than guide a fully formed artist. Furthermore, Adam appears to view Josh as kind of a “mini-me.” On the other hand, I get a “yo get out of my way…I know what I’m doing” vibe from Johnny. Some arrogance there maybe? And Adam may not be down for that.
Speaking of Adam–he stole Lilli when Alicia let her go. So did Blake, but Lilli chose Adam. Probably smart. There’s less competition on Adam’s team, which has gotten exponentially stronger with her addition.
