In between the unveiling of The Top 13 on last night’s The Voice, coach Blake Shelton made a huge announcement. The next People magazine Sexiest Man Alive! would be…drum roll…his fellow coach John Legend. Blake can relate. He was People’s Sexiest Man Alive back in 2017. Additionally, People’s Sexiest Man in 2013 was former The Voice coach Adam Levine. The magazine loves The Voice coaches!
“So you already came into this show with an EGOT then you won The Voice and it became a VEGOT. Now, you have a VEGOTSMA!” Blake joked as he presented a pair of jean short shorts with the unwieldy acronym emblazoned in glitter. For those who don’t know, having an EGOT is a high honor, It means the artist has won it all–Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
“I don’t know what to say,” said John. “I want to thank People, of course, but mostly I want to thank Blake Shelton because I sat next to him for the last few months and I learned his sexy ways!” John joked. “I observed every move he made, every utterance that came from his mouth, and I think some of it rubbed off on me. I think that has everything to do with why we’re here today.”
John’s wife, Chrissy Teigen, is proud of him, he said. “But she hasn’t even been snarky about this! She’s like legit proud of me. I finally impressed my wife.” He spoke too soon, as she tweeted later, “The sexiest man alive just made me a ham sandwich!”

As far as the honor is concerned, the musician and Ivy League graduate said to People. “I think you grow into being comfortable in your own skin. Most of your teenage years, into your 20s, you’re still figuring out who you are, how you present yourself to the world…eventually I think you get more at ease with yourself. I know who I am. Maturity helps with that.”
