The Voice: Cait Martin’s Stunning Harry Styles Earns 4 Chairs

Cait Martin The Voice Blind Audition

Thirty-two year old Cait Martin got all 4 coaches to turn their chairs with a tender and exquisitely phrased rendition of Harry Styles’ “As it Was.”

Not only was coach Kelly Clarkson the first to turn her chair, but Cait’s mom, a big fan, chants her name off stage. “You know what they say,” Kelly says, “You should always listen to your parents!” Kelly continues, “I could tell in your voice, and how much control you had in the beginning. That beautiful vibrato is so crystal clear. I knew you were going to go big and powerful.” Kelly compliments her ability to hit the high note, “You did it so effortlessly!”

“I don’t know if you realize this or not,” says Blake Shelton trotting out his go to pitch to artists, “But his is my last season to be a coach on this show.” He adds, after Kelly basically calls him a tired old man, “I would love to go out with a win on this thing.” He states, “I think I can dig down deep and somehow find the energy and passion one more time to win The Voice!”

“It’s time to pass the baton over”

“It’s time to pass the baton over,” says Niall Horan. “The minute I heard the riff on the piano, I knew you were going to do something different to the song.” He continues, “I can tell you like storyteller type music…that’s what I do for a living.” Niall compliments her vocals, “You just kept so much control in the highest parts and had so many dynamic and beautiful moments in the song.”

“I was not the first person to turn around my chair, “says Chance the Rapper, “But that doesn’t mean that I love you any less!” He adds, I think the texture or the tone of your voice is a little reminiscent–especially when you’re doing the lower tones–as Whitney.” Chance continues, “You have a lot of room to grow. If you want to win, you should ride with me.”

“That’s what wins the show,” says Kelly, When you do something that people are not expecting, and you put a really rad vocal on it–people want to see something different.”

Cait’s mom begins chanting for Kelly again. “Your mom hates me!” jokes Niall. “I come from a show like this, and I feel like I’ve got the tools to break hearts with you.”

Who will Cait choose as her coach? Tune into NBC on Monday March 20 at 8 pm to find out. There are only TWO more Blind Auditions episodes before the Battles begin.
