Tyra Banks is leaving Dancing with the Stars after hosting the iconic ballroom dance competition for three seasons. She told TMZ outside of a Whole Foods in Santa Monica, California that she wants more time to spend concentrating on her business interests.
When the interviewer asked Tyra how she would juggle all of her jobs along with Dancing with the Stars hosting duties, she dropped the big news, “I’m really focused on business, like crazy, crazy crazy focused on business,” she revealed, “I feel it’s time for me to really focus on my business and my entrepreneurship.” She also wants to spend more time behind the camera producing television.
“I think it’s time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor”
“I think it’s time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor,” she added, coyly. When the TMZ interviewer asked Tara to be more specific about whether she is leaving the show or not, she answered, “I think it’s time, don’t you think it’s time?”
“I think my heart and my soul is into my business. It’s also into introducing new TV which we’re working on,” Tara further explained, adding that she’s developing a new “business show” that’s coming soon. “You’ll see me creating things, not just hosting things.”
“From the ballroom to the boardroom, baby!” she exclaimed.
Tara Banks’ controversial time on DWTS
Or maybe Disney declined to renew her contract.
Tara’s tenure with the popular dance show was controversial from the start. Former producer Andrew Llinares unceremoniously fired beloved hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews, for season 29 in 2020 replacing them with Tara, while also giving her an executive producer credit.
Sean Spicer Cast on DWTS and Host Tom Bergeron is NOT Happy
Fans were not happy. Especially after Tara stumbled as a live show host. She made mistakes and had trouble thinking quickly on her feet. That, in contrast to seasoned broadcasters, Bergeron and Andrews who made hosting a live show week in and week out look easy.
When DWTS moved from ABC to Disney+ in 2022, new producer Conrad Green hired former contestant, Alfonso Ribeiro, to co-host. Fans rejoiced.
As far as Tara’s businesses are concerned, TMZ reports that she recently launched her SMiZE & Dream ice cream internationally, but now she’s focused on bringing it to the U.S. soon.
Tyra’s has been a fixture on TV for years, from America’s Next Top Model to The Tyra Banks Show and a two season run hosting America’s Got Talent.
