America’s Got Talent: Micah Palace promotes the World Cup and nabs Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer
America’s Got Talent Season 20 returned for week three of the Quarterfinals. Simon Cowell choose the act this week that received the Golden Buzzer allowing them to move forward to finals. (Read our AGT Recap, See the Results).
The act Simon chose, 24 year-old Argentinian singer and rapper Micah Place from Canterbury Connecticut is entertaining, but arguably not a front runner. The Golden Buzzer picks have truly been surprising so far.
Soccer and music have been Micah’s two passions since he was young. His audition, which featured his mother’s ironing board, went viral with nearly 50 million views across platforms. He appeared on Enrique Santos and snapped a quick photo with David Beckham at an Inter Miami game.
Micah decided to bring soccer and music together for this performance with a refrain of “olé.” His act is high energy, and the music feels current. I will say it does feel somewhat repetitive and even overproduced with a heavy track and without a huge focus on his voice, but the talent is still very much there. He also knows how to work a stage.
“You make the ironing look fun”
Howie Mandel suggested Micah could play festivals, saying “You make the ironing look fun.” He called him “good bunny,” comparing him to the artist Bad Bunny. Sofia Vergara believes that there’s a reason he went viral, and added, “I do think this could work for the World Cup definitely.” Mel B said, “I don’t get it, but I do get it.”

“Actually I DO get it,” Simon said. He noted that “the World Cup is coming, maybe that should be the anthem.” He then asked Micah what color the cup is. “Gold,” the singer replied. That prompted Simon to press his golden buzzer. The whole thing felt like a promo for the World Cup 2026 which will be broadcast on NBC.
Tuesday night’s show was a bit all over the place with some acts stepping up and others taking a step back. However, two acts continued to wow me–Jacqueline and Wagner who took their acrobatic roller skating act to the next level, and Jessica Sanchez who sang amazingly again while 8 months pregnant. It’s no secret that I’m a big fan. Anna Saranina’s thrilling ending of her act should have been enough for her to advance too, but it did feel a bit slow for the build up. This week may slightly tougher to predict than previous weeks, but we will see.
