VOTE for your favorite contestants via the AGT phone app and/or NBC.com.

Crash Adams – Singing duo

The pair have been singing together since childhood. Now, they create viral videos online. They did AGT to put their music “at the forefront.”

The two perform another original song, “New Heart.” It’s not as catchy as their audition song. Plus, they need a bunch of reverb on their microphones to sound half-way decent. Their appeal isn’t based on their vocals, but that they are cute guys working the stage in an appealing way.

Sofia understands their internet popularity. She calls them “just fun.” Howie calls the new song the “b-side.” He didn’t feel they stepped it up. Mel compliments the band, but thought the vocals were shaky. Simon believes they made a smart decision going on the show. “You know who you are,” he says, although he concedes the new song isn’t as good as the audition number.

Zak Mirz – Magician

David Blaine inspired a young Zak to do magic. After his audition, he called the magician to congratulate him on a job well done. Since his audition, Zak and his wife had a second daughter.

Zak’s trick utilizes cards with animals printed on them. He asks the audience at home to join in. The magician instructs everyone to tear their four cards in half and shuffle. He wants folks to take one piece and sit on it. Poor Mel B is probably confused. The poor floor crew will need to clean up a bunch of card pieces as Zak instructs the audience to toss the pieces in the air. Howie becomes impatient and buzzes him. And in the end, Howie’s cards are messed up. But then NOT REALLY! Sorta clever?

Howie takes his buzzer back. But he is correct, it took too long to get there. Simon says it’s more than a trick, it’s magic. Sofia felt it was too complicated, but is glad it turned out well.

TT Boys – Balance act

The duo, from Ethiopia, met 20 years ago. Their goal is to earn the Golden Buzzer.

Oddly, the two wear what looks like street clothes to perform their balance act. One member uses his feet to toss the other into summersaults, before one is blindfolded for more tossing. Did he just almost fall? Or is it part of the act? Humor! The duo exude personality, but aren’t particularly awe inspiring.

Mel calls the act “out of this world.” Simon feels they created excitement. He calls them brave and brilliant. Sofia calls it brave and dangerous. Howie calls them amazing and terrifying. The crowd shouts for the Golden Buzzer. “I can’t do it yet!” And Howie does not push it. He is correct.

Cole Swensen & Judy – Singer and Cello player

Cole’s mother, who gave up a career as a musician, accompanied her son on cello as he sang “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay for his audition. The time, the singer accompanies himself on guitar and sings Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” in a mumbly style. His whole act hinges on the mother/son deal–not his underpitch vocals.

Sofia notes how emotional the act is. Howie calls it beautiful, but finds singing a love song alongside ones mother “awkward.” Mel compliments his vocals, but agrees with Howie. Aw, Cole looks crushed. Simon HARD DISAGREES with Howie and Mel and believes fans at home will love it.

Mike Munz – Muscle builder

His audition, featuring the body builder controlling his torso muscles in a very specific way, has had the highest number of views of any this season. Mike explains how he didn’t initially make the Top 44. But when the Australian gal, Astrid Jorgensen, who led an audience chorus for her audition dropped out, he got in, but with short notice.

There was a reason Mike didn’t make the cut initially. Because once you’ve seen his “party trick,” you don’t really need to see it again. This time, he incorporates a pull up bar as he isolates specific torso muscles. Simon must agree, because he buzzes, and so does Howie.

Simon says, “It isn’t an act.” NO KIDDING. Mel B disagrees. She calls him “insanely talented.” OK then. Howie agrees with Simon. He calls it a demonstration instead of an act. “Maybe if you brought your mother out.” Oh, snark. Sofia calls him “spectacular.”

Chuck Adams – Singer

Chuck had a record deal, put out a single, and was dropped the next year. After the disappointment, he bought a motorcycle and traveled and wrote songs. He’s on AGT because his mother wanted him to do the show for years. The Goo Goo Dolls returned his audition song, a cover of “Iris.”

This time he covers the Oasis classic, “Wonderwall.” His taste in 90s pop rock covers is unexpected. But while his audition intrigued, he doesn’t have the grit and power to match the Oasis anthem.

Sofia gushes that she saw Oasis at the Rose Bowl over the weekend. Mel is jelly. She notes his nerves (yes, he seemed nervous). She calls him brilliant. Howie wanted more excitement from him. Simon liked the song choice. He likes and respects Chuck. Actually, the execution was the problem, not the song choice.

The Funkateer Dancers

The group formed in high school in the 80s. After giving show business a go, they eventually took a “hiatus” and are back in middle age. Terry awarded their audition a Golden Buzzer. “We old but we ain’t cold,” says one.

The quartet moves impressively for middle aged guys. Pretty spry. Howie calls them pure joy. Mel B says, “Old school never fails.” Sofia says, “That was amazing.” Simon loves them. “It’s how you make us feel. One of my favorite acts tonight.”

The Boykinz – Country music group

The group is from Snellville, Georgia and write their own songs. The quartet’s audition was also a Terry Golden Buzzer. They’ll sing another original country song this time.

The group performs pop informed choreography while singing country tunes. Oh my, these harmonies are off. The song is OK. The choreography incorporates dance moves. Maybe hoping to be a wedding reception favorite? But the melody is catchy. The vocals are shaky in spots, unfortunately.

Sofia compliments their voices, but liked the audition better. Mel loves them, but wanted more harmonies. Howie doesn’t feel they stepped it up from their audition. The crowd boos. Simon feels they have a star glow, but didn’t top their audition. He didn’t like the track.

GENDAI – Laser light dancer

He’s a solo dance act that works lasers into his routine. He’s worried he can’t compete with the bigger teams. The dancer starts off with a “Singing in the Rain” nod, complete with umbrella. He semi-recreates the iconic Gene Kelly routine, but with lights. The visuals are gorgeous.

Mel was confused last time, but not this time. She’s not sure he can make it bigger and better. That’s silly. Sofia doesn’t think she could watch an entire show of lasers. Howie doesn’t think he stepped it up. GENDAI looks shocked. Simon felt the act was gimmicky. He hated the track. I liked this much more than the panel did.

Team Recycled – Dance group – Howie’s Golden Buzzer

Mel B called them “boring” at their audition. They are determined to impress her. The group from Europe are amateurs who hold day jobs.

The new routine is hyped up with bigger and better visual effects. We’re almost at the end of the show, so Howie is probably going to use his Golden Buzzer, finally.

Howie expresses disappointed in the night, except for Team Recycled! He hits his Golden Buzzer. Joy! Who cares what you think, Mel.

Birmingham Youth Fellowship Choir

Simon explains that he pressed his audition Golden Buzzer for this act. The choir serves as a refuge for disadvantaged youth.

They sing the 90s hit “Praise You” by Fat Boy Slim. They turn it into a gospel song. Or maybe it’s always been that. I haven’t been able to figure that out. Part way, the tempo goes into overdrive. It’s a rousing performance!

Sofia calls it the feel good moment of the night. Mel B says, “You took me to church!” Howie declares, “I have been healed!” Simon calls them fantastic, “lighting up the room.” He feels they stepped it up.
