We already knew this, but NBC has made it official. Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams will return as coaches for Season 8 of The Voice. UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Oct. 14, 2014 — Pharrell Williams, who is receiving sensational reviews in his inaugural season of “The Voice,” will be returning to the eighth cycle of NBC’s Emmy Award-winning series with fellow coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Christina Aguilera, as previously announced. The eighth cycle will begin in early 2015.

Shelton and Levine have been with “The Voice” since the show began in 2011. Aguilera, who is also one of the original coaches, most recently appeared in cycle five.

“We are excited to welcome Christina back to her red chair and can’t wait to see how she mixes things up among Adam, Blake and Pharrell, in what will be an incredibly competitive competition” said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC Entertainment. “These four talented artists are at the top of their game as musicians and as coaches. The mentoring is sure to be intense and the stakes will be high.”

“The Voice” has opened the new fall season as primetime’s #1 reality show and the #2 entertainment series on the Big 4 networks behind only CBS’s “Big Bang Theory” in adults 18-49, with Monday’s “Voice” averaging a 4.0 rating, 11 share in 18-49 and 12.9 million viewers overall and Tuesday originals delivering a 4.1/13 and 13.5 million viewers, according to “live plus same day” results reported to date by Nielsen Media Research.

  1. I’m tired of Blake and Adam! Would rather see Usher and Bruno Mars instead!

  2. Oh good, I’ve been crossing my fingers for Christina! Nice to see Pharrell again. They should try replacing Adam or Blake some season.

  3. I think Christina is well beyond her sell-by date as well. They need to be rid of all the original panel, IMO.

  4. Oh God, I cannot stand Christina. For me, that is really disappointing. So annoying.

  5. I like Christina. ;-) Agree that it wouldn’t hurt for Blake and Adam to take a break for a season.

  6. Yayy!! I’m so happy to see Xtina and Pharrel in next season’s panel!! I can’t wait for those amazing singing moments with Xtina schooling the members of her team. I don’t care if it’s show-off, I love it!!!

  7. Add me to the group of people who are happy to have Xtina back (I know it’s kinda show off-y, but I like having a coach who can actually show her contestants what she wants them to do) but would like Adam and Blake to take a season off

  8. Just how stupid can a dumb blonde be? Be reminded during Season 8 of The Voice.

  9. Christina is a little more feisty with the guys…I don’t mind that. I’m just wondering why the show seems so hell bent on making sure its always three guys and just one girl. I’d love to see Christina and Shakira in one season.

  10. Glad XTina is back, but would like to see Usher or even Gwen replace Adam. Additionally, uhhhh…is there some TV by-law that only one female can be coaching in any given season?

  11. Glad Xtina is back. Hate her all you want, so far she’s easily the best coach out of the 3 women so far.
And she’ll be in an “I’m a new mother, again!” mood so bitchtina will be long gone.
Finally, the sangin Queen of the coach panel is back.

  12. I’ll vote for Adam. I think Blake plays a big role in keeping everybody revved and rolling. He instigates and the place needs an instigator.

  13. I don’t know yet about Gwen’s coaching, but I think she is every bit as strong as Christina, if not stronger. She has a big personality.

  14. I’m not looking forward to Xtina coming back. Personality aside, I don’t like her style of music and she tries to make her team into little Christina’s so her team is always a lost cause for me.

  15. I agree with you on Gwen, I definitely think she has potential to be a strong coach, but we can’t tell until farther down the road.

  16. Gwen might be a good coach, but she can’t touch Christina in the vocals department (hardly anyone can).

  17. Xtina’s job on the panel is to be the coach who could have actually won the show.

  18. I wish it was Pharell, Usher, Xtina, and Gwen. Im sick and tired of Blake & Adam!

  19. I guess they don’t want two women in the panel (see Mariah v Nikki Minaj)

  20. She is busy trying to make sure she looks good as a coach rather than invest in the singers. In the end, it’s all about her.

  21. That’s not what her team members say about her. Anyway, if she’s trying to look good as a coach, that means she must actually be coaching them.

  22. We are all entitled to our opinions. And some of us don’t like her on the show. but, that is what the FF button on the remote is for.

  23. What happened to Usher? He got axed?
I love Pharrell, but I was hoping they switch him with Usher for spring. It´s refreshing to change coaches each cycle.
BTW are Blake and Adam ever gonna take a break? Geez. It´s about time. Really hope the producers consider doing it for the next fall and try something new.
Luke Bryan to replace Blake and maybe JT for Adam. Heh. Wishful thinking.

  24. I have always liked Pharrell better than Usher. I find Pharrell to be a likable guy and he’s not a phony like Usher.

  25. I’m not a big fan of Christina, and I don’t like the vibe that she brings to the show. Her attitude was better last season, but I’d still take Gwen or Shakira over her. I like the chemistry between Blake, Adam and Pharaell, so I’m glad those three are staying on.

  26. So disappointed. I really didn’t want Adam to come back. He’s annoying in my opinion.

  27. He’d do a great job teaching contestants how to rip off other artists

  28. Xtina returning was expected, but Pharrell staying on is a nice surprise

  29. Nobody that is on “The Voice” needs it. Adam and Blake don’t need it anymore. Love her or not, XTina is on a similar level as JT, etc.

  30. I was ready to respond to you, saying, “What?” I didn’t care for CeeLo’s personality even before all his stupid comments and the legal charges against him.

  31. No JT – can’t stand him! Blake and Adam “make” the show entertaining! Not looking forward to Xtina returning.

  32. It’s not about the vocals of the judges – it’s about their strength as a judge and coaching.

  33. It feels like that every season Xtina is on, all my favorites are always on her team and they all get robbed….

  34. I did say somewhere in this thread that she was a good coach. She knows about technique as well, which helps with her coaching. Adam has even deferred to her when it came to one of his contestants and his/her technique.

  35. I think it’s “preferred”. UK and Australia does the same thing. Although Philippines had 2 female coaches at the same time.

  36. She got signed to Atlantic Records and is releasing an EP next week.I met her on “The Voice” tour and she’s super nice!

  37. I’m glad Christina is back. I miss her. Too bad won’t get to see her and Usher together. I really wanted that.

  38. I wish Adam would take some time off of The Voice. His schtick is old and predictable. But wait, he turned around first….. Blah, blah, blah.

I am loving Pharrell this season. But I will dearly miss Usher. Oh well, he won his trophy.

  39. Pretty strong panel — I would prefer no Christina, and for Usher to return. Although Pharrell is really good.

Adam used to bother me but I have grown to respect him. And he really has been pretty interesting this season, less manic and more thoughtful about his team. I actually think that Adam, Blake and Carson provide the continuity this show needs.

  40. Yeah…that too. Or even Gwen and Shakira…I just think its sad that the show appears to be so against having two female coaches.

  41. I don’t know about you, but I thought Alicia Keys was really good last night. That would be a good choice.

  42. Adam has had to raise his game. He’s being totally schooled by Pharrell, and I’m loving it! :-)

  43. I’m not a fan of Christina as a coach and would rather her retire from the show. She likes to make it all about her. I’m loving Gwen & Pharrell and would love to see both back. I also liked Shakira & Usher but just a bit less.
