Looks like Pharrell is going full on old school R&B for Evan McKeel. If he’s abandoning rock music, he could at least tackle a modern song. Kenny Loggins? Seriously?

Mark Hood’s song: OMG dude. You are toast. Why do you hate Mark, Pharrell? “Against All Odds” is generally speaking, the bane of singing show contestant’s existence. Ballads aren’t Mark’s strength to begin with. Watch him perform in the death spot, too. He’s not long for this singing show world, sadly. I will say, however, Trevin Hunte’s version a couple of years ago was kind of yelly, but effective.

Braiden Sunshine attempting to growl his way through Renegade. JUST NOOOO.

Korin Bukowski continues to be sleepy on a song that could pack a punch with a dynamic arrangement. Maybe the full song will surprise us tonight.

Also snoozy: Songs from Barrett Baber, Zach Seabaugh (tonight’s performance will establish him as a one-hit-wonder or a contender.)

Amy Vachal’s song pick is interesting. I suggested she sing something contemporary, but I’m not convinced it won’t be too laid back.

It looks like Adam is sticking with country for Shelby Brown. She’ll have to bring it tonight, because Emily Roberts has a better song. She sounds great on that Patty Loveless tune.

We knew it was coming, but I am surprised that Adam is pulling out the Jesus card for Jordan Smith so soon, instead of waiting closer to the final. I’m smelling another Top 10 iTunes hit! And that’s hardly a bold prediction.

I bow down and look forward to songs from Jeffery Austin and Madi Davis, who both sound incredible on their recordings.
