The Voice 8 Top 6 Power Rankings

The Voice - Season 8

We bid goodbye to Hannah Kirby and Corey Kent White of Team Blake last week. That left the winningest coach in The Voice history with only ONE team member. Could she be singing for her life this week? Here, I rank the remaining 6 singers going into tonight’s episode.

How would YOU rank the Top 6? Leave your thoughts in comments, and join us tonight for our The Voice live blog at 8/7c pm NBC.

The Voice 7 winner, Craig Wayne Boyd, will drop by on Tuesday to sing his new single, “I’m Still Here.

1. Sawyer Fredericks – Team Pharrell Williams – Holy moly! Sawyer’s recording of “Simple Man” quickly rose to the Top 10 last week, reaching #2 on iTunes. This young singer can do no wrong, it seems. His simple, plaintive, yet emotional approach to music is clearly striking a chord with viewers. At this point, the competition is his to lose.

2. Kimberly Nichole – Team Christina Aguilera –  Powerhouse vocalist, Kimberly Nichole, is the best performer left in the competition. If Christina chooses her songs carefully, she could make it to the finals. I wasn’t entirely sold on her take of “Creep” last week, but there were enough viewers who did appreciate her torchy take on the alt rock classic to send it to #12 on iTunes.

3. Joshua Davis – Team Adam Levine –  Joshua’s lovely cover of “Fields of Gold” charted right behind Sawyer on iTunes, at #4.  He had the biggest comeback ever last week–from charting dead last in iTunes and landing in the bottom 3 to making the iTunes Top 10. I would not underestimate this gentle balladeer. He doesn’t have the power of the remaining girls, or Sawyer’s unique spirit. But what Josh does have is the ability to connect deeply, meaningful and maturely to the songs he sings. If Adam steps back and allows him to do his thing, he could end up in the finals.

4. Koryn Hawthorne – Team Pharrell Williams –  Koryn is pure, raw talent. But she’s young, and unpolished and needs more time to develop her gifts. Last week she had some pitch issues. Pharrell needs to work with her carefully. Choose good songs, help her with intonation and control. When Koryn is on, she’s ON.

5. Meghan Linsey – Team Blake Shelton – I’m not completely clear who chose “Something” last week for Meghan. I don’t think it was a good song choice for her. She’s got to stick to country from here on out. That’s her money. Otherwise, she’s going to be singing for the save sooner rather than later.

6. India Carney – Team Christina Aguilera – America just isn’t embracing India. She hits all the right notes, but it’s as the years of classical  music training she’s had is keeping her from really letting go in a performance. Unless she’s has some sort of a breakthrough this week, I expect she’ll end up in the bottom again, and will likely head home.

This is a CRAZY talented Top 6! I’m pretty convinced that Sawyer will probably win, and that India will go home this week. But other than that, for the rest, it depends on song choice and performances. It’s so hard to predict a final four.

ETA: According to The Voice voting rules posted at NBC.com, one contestant will go home this week and one next, to leave a Top 4 for the finale. The twitter save will involve the bottom 2.
