The Voice 24 Spoilers: Battle Round Contestant Matchups and Results

BIAS vs. Jacquie Roar – Team Gwen – Need a Favor by Jelly Roll

NBC previewed this battle last week. Gwen and Reba turned for BIAS after he sang Blake Shelton’s “God’s Country.” Recently he left his job to pursue music full time. Jacquie was a quick four chair turn. She shares that she has auditioned many times for The Voice. Jacquie is hoping to bring a grunge rock country vibe to her performances. Gwen suggests Jacquie lean into her dark relationships history, and is absolutely intrigued by BIAS.

These two set the stage on fire. Both go for it full throttle–like their lives depended on this one performance. Jacquie’s range and passion are incredible, while BIAS brings a unique tone and energy to the stage. The duo’s chemistry is off the charts.

John calls them “electric” describing Jacquie’s performance as powerful and rangy. He would choose BIAS because of his energy and star power. Reba gushes over both, but would choose Jacquie. Niall says “Both of you didn’t put a foot wrong” but would “lean towards BIAS. Gwen calls BIAS “weird and cool” and thinks Jacquie is a vocalist who can sing anything. Gwen picks BIAS. Jacquie pitches herself to the other coaches. Reba answers the call, she steals Jacquie.

Alison Albrecht vs Angelina Nazarian – Team Reba – You Say by Lauren Daigle

Angelina is only 17 years old and has little performing experience. She lives in Dubai now with her parents. Alison lives in Los Angeles crafting custom songs for a corporation. She admits she would have picked Reba in any case, even if all four chairs had turned, instead of just one. Reba becomes emotional as she presses both singers to pour emotion into the performance. After rehearsal, Reba is so moved that she’s in tears.

Angelina’s tone is delicate but pretty and vulnerable. Alison is a strong and mature singer. Her experience shows, but the young Angelina is fighting for her spot. Both could move on to the Knockouts. But Alison’s vocals are stronger and more assured. She has the edge here.

Niall calls the song “a beast” and gives them a pass for some pitch issues. He got goosebumps listening to Alison and calls Angelina brave. He would pick Alison. Gwen thought both were good, but she would also pick Alison. John loved the song choice, he calls the performance “touching.” Reba and Lauren are good friends, apparently. Wow. Reba is criticizing them! She thinks their rehearsal was more emotionally impactful and connected, and believes nerves got to them on the big stage. Reba picks Alison, Angelina is eliminated.

Julia Roome vs. Olivia Eden – Team Niall – Kiss Me by Sixpence None the Richer

These two teens have a huge crush on Niall. Julia is only 13, while Olivia is 15. She sang Niall’s “This Town” for her audition. Julia is already in online school which allows her to spend more time gigging and songwriting. Both kiddos weren’t born in the 90s when this song came out. Niall gives them tips on singing together in harmony vs solo singing.

Both artists are adorable and bring a freshness to the stage. But they are underbaked. Just a bit more time in the proverbial musical oven, and they’ll be ready. Both have potential. Julia is a little more ready than Olivia. Although both are having pitch issues. The performance basically falls apart by the end.

Nobody on the panel has the heart to criticize these kids. John notes that they needed more “accuracy” when it came to pitch. He’d pick Julia. Reba advises them to stay in the moment, and like she does, she mentions how she had no confidence at that age. Gwen compliments their “original” tones. Niall does not look forward to breaking up the duo. Niall picks Julia, Olivia is eliminated.

Stee vs Willie Gomez – Team Legend – Tacones Rojo by Sebastian Yatra ft John Legend

Both singers earned a 4 chair turn during the Blind Auditions. Willie started as a dancer in Miami before moving to L.A. John picked a song he recorded as a duet with a Latin star. He gives vocal tips and redistributes the solos a bit. John is mad there are no Battle saves this season. For season 24, the saves begin at the Knockouts.

Willie handles the Spanish language verses. One of these days, a Latin artist will go far on The Voice. It’s a popular genre! But Stee is a stronger singer. Willie, however has great stage presence and knows how to move on stage.

Reba compliments their chemistry, dancing and stage presence. She’d pick Willie. Niall calls Willie a great all around package, and compliments Stee’s voice. He’d also pick Willie. Gwen calls Stee’s voice “perfect.” She’d lean towards him. John claims that he is stumped. “You both were so incredible together.” The pair came up with their own arrangement. John picks Stee, Willie is eliminated

Kristen Brown vs. Juliette Ojeda – Team Gwen That’s the Way it Is by Celine Dion

Kristen’s mom is in poor health, but she never misses her daughter’s performances. Kristen considers herself a country singer. Juliet sang “Hopelessly Devoted to You” in Spanish. She attended Berklee in Boston. On the surface they seem like very different singers. Gwen put them together because she considers them both “dramatic.” During rehearsal, Gwen helps both singers work through some nerves. Gwen expects Juliette to adjust her style to be more country.

The singers harmonize surprisingly well. But the song is too big for both of them. They sound better together than apart and there are pitch problems here and there. The song doesn’t fit either of their vocal styles.

John calls Juliette’s voice “strong” and Kristen’s tone “interesting.” He’d pick Kristen. Niall calls Juliette’s tone “pure” and compliments Kristen’s dynamics. He calls them “two powerful divas.” Reba compliments their harmonies and range. She can’t choose a favorite. Gwen thinks they both have a future in music. Gwen picks Kristen, Juliette is eliminated.

Ms. Monet vs. CORii – Team Reba – New Attitude by Patti LaBelle

CORii was not familiar with this classic 80s song. Wow. Reba picked it because she wanted an upbeat song for them. She’s so impressed with rehearsal, that Reba falls on the floor. CORii, a mom, is a songwriter. She was on the NBC songwriting competition, Songland a few years back. She talked about pitching her song to Luis Fonsi (Artists rarely talk about the other shows they’ve competed on! Even when they share networks and producers, like in the case of Songland). Reba advises them both to stay in the moment whether they are singing or not.

Ms Monet is a FIERCE singer. CORii is holding her own with a rangy approach. Promos have been teasing a steal, so nobody is going home.

Niall calls the performance a lot of fun. He’s disappointed that he didn’t turn for CORii in the Blinds. “That could have been your song,” he says to Ms. Monet. He’d pick CORii. Gwen call Ms. Monet “masterful.” But she was impressed by CORii’s range. John felt CORii started off shaky, but improved as the performance went on. He felt Ms Monet was consistently amazing. Reba compliments CORii for stepping up. Reba picks Ms Monet. Gwen and Niall steal CORii at the very last minute. CORii picks Gwen. Niall is very disappointed.
