“Woo! She wore a cape,” Kelly Clarkson gushed over Wendy after the performance. “She showed up!”
Ariana Grande complimented Manny’s energy. “I loved it so much,” she said. complimenting his “unique vibrato.” She noted that it’s probably “the hardest thing in the world to sing with Wendy, before calling her voice her voice “one in a zillion.” Ariana describes the experience of watching the performance as an “out of body experience.” She gives the battle to Wendy.

“Both of you look like stars up there,” John Legend observed. However, he has a minor note, “It felt like you were giving very different interpretations physically. It felt like you weren’t performing together. But I love you both.”
Kelly called Manny “…the music and…the vibe. I couldn’t keep my eyes off of you. I loved your runs, I love your vibrato.” She called Wendy “…the words. You were the message.” As a person who had done singing competitions around the world, Kelly declared the battle “one of the best things I’ve ever heard ever.” Kelly added about Wendy, “If you don’t make the finale, something’s wrong in the world.”
“Two rehearsals with me, and this is what happens!”
Blake joked that when Wendy came to the show “she couldn’t sing…two rehearsals…with me and this is what happens.” But seriously! He complimented Manny for tackling a tough assignment. “Manny knew what he’s up against. You stood toe to toe with Wendy up there, and man you sang the hell out of it.”
Blake referred to “problems in rehearsals” which I’m sure fans will see when the full performance, with mentoring session, AND RESULTS airs on NBC Monday October 18 at 8 pm. “You figured out a way to get through it and get better.”
The coaches each work with superstar advisors to help prepare the singers for battle. Blake brought on country singer Dierks Bentley. Kelly enlisted the help of her former duet partner, Jason Aldean. John teamed up with pop star and former X Factor USA alum Camila Cabello. And Ariana was aided by Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth.
The Voice 21 Battle Rounds end next week. Every save has been used, and only Ariana has a steal remaining.
