Did you miss Adam Levine on last night’s The Voice premiere? I didn’t. Things seemed to proceed business as usual. It probably helped that the crew had mostly worked with each other before, and that Blake had his galpal Gwen Stefani sitting right next to him. That Blake/Adam bromance wasn’t missed at all.  Adam brought a sharp, negative edge to the panel, particularly in the last few cycles, that won’t be missed. At least by me.

Gwen is both more enthusiastic than Adam and a better salesperson. She actually did a good job convincing artists to join her team. Now if she knows what to do with them once the contest begins is another matter altogether.

However, I hope the dynamic between Blake and Gwen doesn’t come to feel as annoying and contrived as the “Shevine” bromance eventually did. But then, “coaches shenanigans” have always been my least favorite thing about the show–or any singing show. That particular opinion might be in the minority, however.

Kelly Clarkson and John Legend did their thing last night. Kelly is still bubbly and talkative, while John continues to bring a wise, regal presence to the proceedings. The “coach takes the stage to sing with a hopeful” is a bit of a cliche now, John did sound good harmonizing with the jazzy artist, Will Breman.

ANYWAY. It’s to vote for your favorites for the first time right here…
