The Voice Season 12 Top 12 Rankings and Power List

The Voice Season 12 Live Finals begin tonight. Can you believe there are only five more weeks left in the season? With the kick off of finals comes the first POWER LIST. I whipped this together and admittedly, it’s a little random. You may or may not (probably the latter!) agree with my picks. How would you rank the Top 12? Hit comments with your thoughts.

12. TSoul – Team Blake – Personally, I’m a fan of TSoul’s odd ball soul stylings. But it has always felt as if Blake’s reasons for pushing him through had nothing to do with his popularity. R&B singers in his lane like Chris Blue and Vanessa Ferguson are going to grab all the attention. I won’t be surprised is TSoul is eliminated in 12 or 11th place

11. Troy Ramey – Team Gwen – I also really like Troy’s sturdy vocals and the way he turns a song inside out. But I don’t think he’s catching on with Voice fans generally, and I don’t have much faith that Gwen will know what to do with him. Hopefully she won’t try to make him over. She’d be smart to just let him do his thing. Still, I think Troy will go out before the semi-finals.

10. Mark Isaiah – Team Adam – Mark is a talented pop singer, but his type usually don’t last on The Voice. If Adam were to give him “grandma” songs and play up his innocence, he’d stand a chance. But Adam should present Mark as the artist he wants to be and allow the chips to fall where they may. Mark, along with Troy and TSoul had to be saved. The swift and chaotic voting process may have thrown off the results, though.

9. Vanessa Ferguson – Team Alicia – Vanessa is one of my favorites. I’ve got her ranked pretty low for now. She could be a dark horse…or be eliminated early. I think song choice is going to be key for this uniquely talented singer.

8. Aliyah Moulden – Team Blake – Here’s hoping young Aliyah can keep herself together under pressure. Although she’s cute and perky and has a big voice, Aliyah has pitch and control issues. Blake has to be careful not to give her more than she can handle, vocally.

7. Stephanie Rice – Team Alicia – Here’s the thing. I suspect that Stephanie Rice is a polarizing presence. Think about how Christian and Gospel songs race up the charts when they are performed And then think about how some of those folks maybe don’t take too kindly to Stephanie “criticizing” her pastor papa on television. For that reason, I think she’s a middle packer, despite her musical gifts.

6. Lilli Passero – Team Adam – I love Lilli! But I’m not sure how far this jazzy chanteuse can make it. Maybe to the semi-finals but no further. Just like season 9 singer, Amy Vachal, Lilli could go out earlier than expected, even if she charts reasonably well. Her performing style may be a little too subtle to sustain a motivated fan base.

5. Brennley Brown – Team Gwen – Brennley is another young singer who could go far if she keeps it together. She’s only 15, and Gwen seems more besotted with her age than her talent. But she’s delivered a couple of buzzy performances so far. We’ll see what happens.

4. Jesse Larson – Team Adam – Jesse has dark horse written all over him. This talented guitarist will pick up the Sundance Head/Craig Wayne Boyd/Laith Al-Said contingent. Older guys with retro country/rocker leanings have done pretty well on The Voice.

3. Lauren Duski – Team Blake – I suspect Lauren will be the last one standing on Team Blake. Her polished, emotive country folk seems to be resonating with viewers. And I think Blake will work extra hard with the singer, whom I suspect is his favorite.

2. Chris Blue – Team Alicia – Chris’ unique R&B stylings and mesmerising stage presence could take him far into the competition. Hopefully, Alicia sets him up with some great songs.

1. Hunter Plake – Team Gwen – Hunter is the highest charting of all the finalists so far. That doesn’t mean he’ll eventually win, but it earns him the No 1 spot for now. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t make the finals.
