Christina Grimmie’s Family Gets Emotional as She’s Honored at Humane Society Gala – Christina Grimmie’s family was moved to tears Saturday as the late former The Voice and YouTube singer was honored at the Humane Society of The United States’ annual star-studded To The Rescue! benefit in Los Angeles. At the benefit, Rachel Platten, who Christina had supported on tour, performed her hit “Fight Song” as a tribute to the star. A video montage of her was also screened and guests became teary-eyed. Christina’s mother Tina Grimmie, father Bud Grimmie and brother Marcus Grimmie, who witnessed her murder and had attempted to stop the shooter, as well as her friend Sarah Luebkemann then appeared onstage to accept the Impact Award on behalf of the singer. – Read more at EOnline

Sawyer Fredericks reflects on past, looks ahead – “I had some fans, these people gave me a cow,” Fredericks said. “I’ve got some crazy fans, and that’s probably one of the craziest gifts.” Fredericks also received a drone, so he can keep an aerial eye on his part of Montgomery County. “It’s all satellite, too; you can go as far as you want as long as it’s in a good spot and you’re in a good spot,” he said. ‘The Voice’ contestant Taylor Phelan narrowly avoided a very different life. – But when Phelan’s father wasn’t around, his single mother was left to care for all three children. That meant dragging them to remodeling sites where she did manual labor. She would leave her children in front of the houses in the car until late in the evening as she worked. “If I put myself in my mom’s perspective, I can’t imagine being a single mom, working and your kids are having to entertain themselves outside,” Phelan says. “But she had to do what she had to do.” And when his father returned, he brought the drama, telling Phelan and his siblings their mother was trying to keep him from them. “As a kid, I remember thinking, ‘I don’t know who to trust.
