This is the point during The Voice season when the coaches are either mouthing platitudes after performances, or throwing subtle shade. Either way, it’s all pretty useless. And at this point, fairly predictable. The performances tonight were generally better than The Playoffs Part 2, but did not surpass Playoffs Part 1. It was kind of a mixed bag tonight. There were no trainwrecks, but no water color moments either. My favorite performances: Adam Wakefield’s “Soulshine,” Hannah Huston’s “Something’s Got a Hold on Me” and Alisan Porter’s “Stone Cold.” Honorable Mention to Shalyah Fearing’s “Up to the Mountain.”
Just for fun, I took a peek at how the season 9 Top 12 contestants were charting on iTunes a few hours after their performances. There were four singers in the Top 4 by 1:15 am. Jordin Smith was already sitting at #1 for his “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” Amy Vachal made it into the Top 10 with her popular rendition of “Hotline Bling.” The bottom 3 chart dwellers were Braiden Sunshine at 104, Mark Hood at 76 and Evan McKeel at 71.
