Top 12 – iTunes Chart numbers at 12 pm (Voting closes)
There are a couple of surprises here for me. I expected Shalyah Fearing to chart higher, considering she had the pimp spot and (arguably, I know) performed better than last week. Owen Danoff is really losing steam. At this point, he needs to tune Adam out and follow his own instincts. Mary Sarah has completely lost her way. I don’t understand why she’s straying from the vintage country that endeared her to fans in the first place. Carrie Underwood-but-not-as-good isn’t going to cut it. She might be trying to establish herself as a contemporary artist–which makes sense–but it’s not working for her. Another singer fizzling after a strong start is Bryan Bautista, who probably bit off more than he could chew last night. I’m not surprised Nick Hagelin is charting ahead of some others. He delivered his song with a sweet sincerity that made up for his pitch problems and lack of vocal prowess. He can’t ride an entire competition on a sweet backstory, however. NOTE TO BLAKE: Y’all are trying so hard to sell Paxton Ingram. Even performing near the end of the show last night couldn’t help him. What a waste of a save…

Prediction: Some of you believe Paxton Ingram would win a sing off against Daniel Passino, but I don’t think so. Paxton has performed miserably on iTunes despite solid performances. I mean, they aren’t trainwrecks. But for whatever reason, America is saying NO. Daniel was saved by America and while some of us may find him super cornball, I could see him appealing to a certain sector of voters (those who vacation in Branson perhaps. I snark.) If the two face off, Daniel would probably pull a ballad and a glory note out of his back pocket. Paxton would be toast. Another possibility is Paxton facing off against Bryan Bautista. In which case: BYE PAXTON. Therefore, I predict: Paxton Ingram will be eliminated from The Voice.
