The Masked Singer 6: What’s Coming Up in December, Finale Details

Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke sit on the panel. Nick Cannon hosts.

Banana Split

Clues: The two talk about the terrible things people say about them online. “Windy City” is a clue. The two smooch offering another clue that they are a couple.

Performance: Singing in the Rain – Instead of playing piano, Banana is directing an orchestra, which seems kind of silly? The song is right in Ice Cream’s wheelhouse. SHE’S TAP DANCING. I had NO IDEA she could do that. Well. She shines on these standard songs. Smart song choice. Banana though, is kind of useless. Ken LOVES THE BANANA. “I think I can make you sound great,” Banana tells Ken. Is he a producer they wonder (Yes).

For clues, the “Nick Cannon Cannon” returns. He shoots a t shirt with “Garden” written on it. So, not only did Nicole compete on Popstars with David Foster as a mentor, but she dueted with him at Madison Square Gardens.  She admits that she knows who they are. And Ken knows too. Ice Cream guest starred on his old show Community. They both guess David Foster and Katharine McPhee. Ken also mentiones that David Foster helped the rock group Chicago with a big  80’s comeback, hence the Windy City clue. Robin grew up with “Uncle Dave” and doesn’t think that he would come on The Masked Singer as a banana. EXCEPT THAT HE MOST CERTAINLY WOULD. Jenny still thinks it’s Jeff Goldblum and his wife Emily. Dr. Phil is their BFF. O really?

Prediction: Banana Split is 100% Katharine McPhee and her husband David Foster

Queen of Hearts

Clues: There was a time in her life where she actually lived like an animal. She took handouts on the street. She’s seen life from the poor and wealthy perspectives. And she concludes that poor people are the most generous of all.

Performance: Bird Set Free by Sia – Queen of Hearts does it again. She delivers an incredible emotional and dramatic performance with a rangy impressive vocal. SHE CAN SANG. Nicole is in tears. So is Ken. She calls it her favorite performance ever on the show. “Wrestle” is the clue. She’s not afraid to get in the ring, and get a little bit dirty, she says. Ken thinks it’s Christina Aguilera. Nicole thinks it’s a 90s era singer-songwriter. And she finally says Jewel

Prediction: Nicole is correct. Queen of Hearts is singer-songwriter Jewel.

Banana Split & Robin Thicke

Clues: Banana has been itching to branch out.  Being creative is important to Ice Cream. Plus, she loves to be silly. Banana has had a long career. Ice Cream reveals Banana has been nervous the entire time. Banana mentions that they rehearse separately for the duets, and only come together for the final performance.

Performance: Don’t You Worry Bout a Thing by Stevie Wonder – This is a fun and pleasant performance. It’s been ages since Robin Thicke has performed live, right? If it weren’t for Masked Singer, his career would have completely derailed after the Blurred Lines controversy. Ice Cream does a split, she’s so happy.

Queen of Hearts & Nicole Scherzinger

Clues: Hilary Swank dials in to wish Queen good luck. She claims to have turned down big paydays. But Masked Singer really spoke to her. She feels good about what she’s doing.

Performance: Dream On by Aerosmith – It’s a big song. Who will sing the big screamy note at the end? Nicole sings it while Queen of Hearts looks on. Still, Queen continues to amaze. Such a talented and versatile singer. Her Masked Singer stint proved she can sing anything. Nicole calls Queen “a natural” and “all heart and soul.”

RESULTS

The audience, panel and superfans across America vote! The winner of Group B is Queen of Hearts! No surprise there. Next week, she will face off against Bull in the GRAND FINALE. Now it’s time to unmask Banana Split. DESTINED FOR 2nd PLACE FOREVER. Heh.

First impression guesses: Robin’s first impression “Jennifer Nettles and that other guy” but he’s changed to Ryan Tedder and Leona Lewis. Ken’s first impression was Katharine McPhee and David Foster. He’s sticking with that. Jenny also had them as first guesses. AND NICOLE HAD THAT FIRST IMPRESSION TOO. They are all sticking with their first impressions. In other words, the panel knew who Banana Split was from DAY ONE. And I bet a million Robin really knows who it is too.

And Banana Split is…Katharine McPhee and David Foster! DUH!!!! Kat says being on the Masked Singer was like being a crazy circus act. She says they did the show to be silly. “We truly love each other.” David promises to produce Ken. Heh. He knows almost everyone on the panel. It was fun for him to try and fool them. He didn’t really, though! David joins the panel for the sing out, giving his wife the spotlight! She jumps up on the judges table for a big finish. FUN SING OUT.

Queen of Hearts deserved to win. But an American Idol alum face off in the finale would have been fun. Oh well. Reading between the lines, it seems like Kat and David did The Masked Singer to improve the public’s perception of them as a couple. Some people find them kind of icky because of the 34 year age difference. Plus, the two have just begun touring again, so the TV exposure should help.
