The Masked Singer season 5 makes its bow on FOX Wednesday March 10 at 8 pm, and here is a sneak peak performance from one of the masked celebrities, Russian Doll.
However, watch the full performance for an eventual twist! A male sounding voice begins the performance of “Shallow” from a Star is Born. Eventually, another doll pops up, a female sounding character, who transforms the performance into a duet! The original song IS a duet between star-crossed characters played by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. The song choice is fitting!
According to reporters who attended a virtual press conference featuring bosses and cast earlier this week, producers did NOT confirm whether the character is a solo or a duo. Russian Dolls comprise many dolls nested inside each other. The costume could be a clever way to represent a duo. (Last season, the Snow Owls were joined at the hip).
However, one possibility: Could a second Russian Doll serve as a Wildcard later in the season? FOX announced the introduction of Wildcard characters who will challenge regulars at the end of each show. What’s REALLY interesting about this clip is that voice at the end shouting “AMAZING!” sounds suspiciously like host Nick Cannon. Niecy Nash will sub for him in the first half of the season as he recovers from COVID-19. The performance may be from later in the season.
