The Masked Singer 10 Week 7 Recap Trolls Night: Find Out Who Was Unmasked!
Tonight, for week 7 of season 10, The Masked Singer presents a Trolls night! Or we were paid to promote a new movie, Trolls Band Together, coming to a theater near you! The song choices will be culled from hits by Boy Bands.
Nick Cannon is host, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger sit on the judges panel.
This week’s episode features celebrity masks Donut, Anteater, Candelabra and NEW mask Cuddle Monster. One celebrity will be unmasked by the end of the night.
The show opens with a Trolls opening number. They dance around to the Trolls Band Together movie theme “Better Place” by ‘Nsync. It’s the boy band’s first new song in 20 years!
Anteater
Clues: He loves to win. “Lost and Found.” He wrestled in high school. He drove race cars. A photo of Jenny and Nicole! Watermelon and Oatmeal.
Performance: I Want it That Way by Backstreet Boys. The panel are convinced Anteater is a “legend” and that his soulful voice is “familiar.” It should be! He’s got a bluesy sounding voice. It’s unusual, but a signature sound. Obviously a pro. “Poppy and Branch” from the Trolls movie supply the on stage clue Hall of Fame. “The trolls just might know something about the Hall of Fame.” Jenny guesses Willie Nelson. Uhm no. Robin agrees with Jenny. Nicole guesses John Mellencamp.
Prediction: So close, yet SO FAR! If any of the panel guess correctly eventually, it will probably be Robin. But not yet! “Hall of Fame” is a nod to “Hall” of Hall and Oates, as Anteater is John Oates! Hence the oatmeal clue. Also, the duo has been inducted into the Rock n Roll and Songwriters Hall of Fame and they also have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Also John wrestled in High School, turning down several scholarships.
Candelabra
Clues: She had to be tough while growing up. Her mom was mostly absent. Dancing shoes. A ring. A castle. Butterflies.
Performance: All My Life by K-Ci and Jo Jo – She’s obviously a professional R&B singer. Now, it’s all about guessing which one. She’s got stage presence and talent and has the potential to go far in this competition. Nick feels like he knows the person. He probably does! On Stage Clue: Real Tea. “On and off the company I’m keeping it real.” Nicole gesses Keyshia Cole. DING DING DING. She’s the princess of Hip Hop Soul. Jenny guesses Ashanti. Ken guesses Kelly Rowland.
Prediction: The internets are saying that Candelabra is Keyshia Cole, which is reasonable! She appeared in several reality shows, and has had several R&B hits over the years. Her mother was addicted to alcohol and crack, leading to family friends adopting her.
Donut
Clues: He’s lived out a billion dreams. For decades he’s been entertaining. The love of his life is no longer here. He still misses her. He honors her memory by doing brave things.
Performance: I Do (Cherish You) by 98 degrees – Fake tears from the panel! He’s also a very professional singer. Like Anteater, he sounds like he’s been around the block a few times. This tear jerking song choice and performance will keep him in the competition, probably. On Stage Clue: Well Seasoned – He has been enjoyed by many generations. Ken guesses Stanley Tucci who lost his wife. Robin guesses Tom Jones. NOPE. Nicole guesses Engelbert Humperdinck. He lost his wife.
Prediction: Hm. The internets think Donut is Sebastian Bach, but his wife is still very much alive….Will update! UPDATE: Now the internets say Donut is John Schneider from the 70’s TV show Dukes of Hazzard who lost his wife recently. Along with television, John has a recording and theater career. He competed on Dancing with the Stars in 2018. His wife Alicia Allain died in February 2023. They owned a recording studio together in Louisiana.
Cuddle Monster – Wildcard
Clues: The costume is the BIGGEST IN MASKED SINGER HISTORY. No group costumes this year. He was a wild child. His talent got him out of a bad situation. He had a big career, but became out of control. He eventually used tools to learn how to live. A clue points to the Muslim religion.
Performance: You Got It (The Right Stuff) by New Kids on the Block – The clues point to an athlete, or someone out of the music industry. But he can carry a tune, more or less. He’s the least talented singer and should be the one to go tonight. On Stage Clue: Champ “This clue should shed light on who I am.” Robin guesses Dennis Rodman. Ken guesses Draymond Green. Ken is usually pretty good with the basketball clues. Nicole guesses Shaquille O’Neal.
RESULTS – Who will sing in the smackdown?
Time for the audience to vote. The bottom two will perform in the Smackdown, singing the same song in their own styles. Cuddle Monster and Anteater will battle Candelabra and Donut are safe! The two contestants sing “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake. The song is from the first Trolls movie. The panel chooses the winner. And since Cuddle Monster is mostly out of tune here, he should be the one to go home. Anteater is the pro performer. A superior singer, clearly.
RESULTS – Who will be UNMASKED?
Anteater is Safe! As it should be! Cuddle Monster is eliminated. Final guesses Robin: Dennis Rodman. Ken: Draymond Green. Jenny: Tristan Thompson Nicole: Shaquille O’Neal. And the Cuddle Monster is…Metta World Peace! He’s also competed on Dancing with the Stars, but was eliminated in the first week of competition. His granddaughter is a fan of the show, he says.
