The Masked Singer 10 Week 8 Recap Disco Night: Find Out Who Was Unmasked!
Tonight, for week 8 of season 10, The Masked Singer celebrates Disco! Group A returns for their final night of competition before the finale
Nick Cannon is host, Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong and Nicole Scherzinger sit on the judges panel.
This week’s episode features celebrity masks Gazelle, Cow and S’More. TWO celebrities will be unmasked by the end of the night…UNLESS the panel uses the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell! This season, the judges have only have ONE opportunity to save a celebrity.
Additionally, the show kicks off with a special performance by the Trammps, performing their big hit “Disco Inferno” as the judges join them on stage to dance.
S’More
Clues: Cowboy boots and dumbells amongst other workout equipment are clues. Also, a giant stuffed bear.
Performance: That’s The Way (I Like It) by KC & the Sunshine Band – S’More isn’t a soulful singer, and compared to the original version, he’s weak sauce! He’s got a few dance moves, however. S’More flirts with Jenny saying she’s his favorite covergirl. But then he tells Nicole she makes him gooey inside. On Stage Clue: A gold key. “Robin, I’ve been inside your house…and you have great decor.” Robin guesses Kevin Richardson. Jenny guesses Ashley Parker Angel Nicole guesses Jordan Knight (He’s been to Robin’s house).
Prediction: Many fans believe the S’more is Ashley Parker Angel from O Town.
Cow
Clues: Cow Ice cream. His mom is very supportive. She had 7 jobs. Red light. A grey football.
Performance: Ring My Bell by Anita Ward. Cow is a girl, but the celebrity behind her is obviously a guy. Cow is a skilled singer and very sassy! He’s getting into the spirit of disco night. On Stage Clue: “Husband.” Cow adds, “Not my husband, your husband. I have spent some time with your hubby.” That’s Jenny’s husband, Donnie Wahlberg. The panel is coming to the conclusion that Cow is Ne-Yo. However, Ken is convinced it’s Usher. Naw, Usher has bigger fish to fry. He’s headed to the Super Bowl in February.
Prediction: The Internets are convinced Cow is Ne-Yo. However, Nick insists that Cow IS NOT NE-YO. But the internets are claiming that Nick is high and Cow is indeed Ne-Yo. I’m Team Internets. Fun fact: Ne-Yo was Badger on the UK version of the show.
Gazelle
Clues: She was a hammy performative kid, and a black sheep of the family. Her parents were athletes “Mystery” is a clue. Her parents made sacrifices for her career.
Performance: On the Radio by Donna Summer – All of the remaining Group A performers are good singers and performers. S’More is the weakest of the three. The song pick is perfect for Gazelle, who has a pretty sweet, high tone. I’m thinking the panel will use the bell this week. On Stage Clue: “Island Vibes” Gazelle says that she holds the islands close to her heart, just like Nicole. Nicole doesn’t have a guess that fits the clues! Robin guesses Maggie q. Ken guesses Constance Wu.
Prediction: The internets say that Gazelle is Janel Parrish from Pretty Little Liars. She grew up in Hawaii.
First Unmasking
The first singer getting unmasked and heading to the “carwash” is….S’more! That’s about right. Gazelle and Cow will perform in the “Battle Royale.” Final guesses: Robin: Kevin Richardson. Ken: AJ McLean. Jenny: Ashley Parker Angel. Nicole: Jordan Knight. And S’More is…Ashley Parker Angel from O Town Jenny AND the Internets are correct!
Now, Taylor Dayne, season 4’s Popcorn, takes the stage to sing “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. After the break, Cow and Gazelle will sing the same song for the Battle Royale which will determine the second celebrity to unmask. That is, unless the panel saves one.
Battle Royale – Will the panel use their save?
Gazelle sings first. The song suits her better. Very dramatic! “I Will Survive” isn’t covered by men, usually. Drag Queens! But otherwise, not really. But Cow pulls it off. He knows how to sell a song. If I had to pick one, though, Gazelle has this.
The panel has to decide. And the celebrity moving on to the season finale is Cow. Gazelle will be unmasked…maybe. Final guesses from the panel: Robin: Maggie q Nicole: Vanessa Hudgens Jenny: Shay Mitchell Ken: Constance Wu. As the crowd chants take it off take it off take it off KEN RINGS THE BELL. That was so happening. So obvious. The Panel SAVES Gazelle Now the crowd is chanting “Ding Dong Keep it On.”
It’s hilarious how the panel, before Nick announces who will be unmasked, behaves as if they have no idea WHO THEY CHOSE TO STAY. The other thing, Gazelle clearly won the Battle. But it’s likely the entire scenario–including who would be eliminated and saved–was plotted by producers ahead of time. And THIRDLY. Earlier today, I browsed the FOX press releases for all the remaining episodes. And only the Disco Night release mentioned the Ding Dong deal, which I considered a STRONG indicator that the panel would use their save this week.
