Survivor Season 45 Week 10 Recap: Live Blog and Results

A new episode of Survivor 45 airs tonight on CBS. Read a live recap here.

In the previous episode, Kendra was blindsided. Jake has been on the chopping block twice in a row, but he’s still here. Jake believes he has friends in the game now. He says he’s no longer a pawn moving forward. Drew points out how Jake keeps surviving, but he wants to flush out Bruce’s hidden immunity idol first. The problem is Bruce won the last two immunity challenges. Drew hopes his winning streak will end.

The next morning, Julie has an emotional talk with Drew. The game is getting to her, and she feels very guilty for betraying Kellie and Kendra. She says she’s very loyal and dependable in the real world, and it’s tough playing this game that requires lying and voting people out. In her confessional, Julie says she can’t even think about turning on her Reba allies Dee, Drew, or Austin. Meanwhile, Bruce, Emily, and Katurah discuss the Reba 4. They worry they may be an unbreakable alliance. Emily has an alliance with Drew and Austin, but she’s questioning working with them moving forward. However, Emily is worried Bruce, Katurah, and Jake can’t figure out how to work together.

Later, Bruce lies to Katurah about giving his idol to Kellie when she was voted out. He claims he gave it to her for safekeeping in case someone used a Knowledge Is Power advantage against him. But right afterwards, he admits to Katurah that he lied. Bruce was testing his acting skills. He later tells the same lie to Jake, believing Jake will spread it around. Bruce’s idea is that he will be able to surprise people when he reveals he still has the idol when he plays it for himself.

Reward challenge

It’s time for the reward challenge. The must go through a series of obstacles and then maneuver a ball through a maze. The winner will get to go to the sanctuary, where they will get to eat turkey, mashed potatoes, and pie. They will also get to sleep there overnight. The challenge begins, and it’s pretty even as everyone reaches their maze at around the same time. People keep dropping the ball, but it eventually becomes a showdown between Emily and Austin. Both are inches from landing their ball, but Austin drops his ball. Emily lands her ball. Emily wins reward! Jeff tells her she can bring three people with her. Before she picks, Jeff also lets them know there will be letters from home at the sanctuary. Emily picks Julie, Katurah, and Dee.

While they’re enjoying reward, Emily, Julie, Katurah, and Dee discuss targeting Bruce next. Katurah also shares Bruce’s plan to lie about giving his idol away to Kellie. They’re ready to send Bruce out of the game, but they plan to split the votes between Bruce and Katurah. Katurah suggests putting more votes on Bruce so he can go home in case he doesn’t play his hidden immunity idol.

While the guys are spending time together back at camp, Bruce suggests to Jake about voting out Dee. In his confessional, Jake says he’s not on board with this plan. He rats out Bruce to Drew later. He also tells Drew that Bruce gave his idol away to Kellie before she was voted out. Jake doesn’t know this is a lie, and Drew believes this story is true too. Drew later shares this with Austin, and they’re both excited they can vote Bruce out without worrying about his hidden immunity idol.

Letters from home

Back at the sanctuary, they read their letters from home. They return to camp the next morning. Drew and Emily chat, and Drew shares what Jake told him about Bruce’s idol. Emily reveals to Drew that Katurah already shared that was a lie. Drew says they can stick with the plan of voting out Bruce or Jake. Jake later talks to Emily, and he finds out Drew is willing to vote him out. Jake thought he could trust Drew, so he’s disappointed. Jake tries to rally votes against Drew. Emily tells him it would blow up her game if she did that. Jake talks to Julie about targeting Drew.

Julie later tells Drew that Jake is trying to target him. Drew is annoyed. He claims he saved Jake twice in a row by shifting the target to Kellie and Kendra. Drew and Jake talk later, and Drew asks “why me?” Jake responds with “why not?” Jake says Drew is okay if Jake gets hit by a stray bullet, but he’s supposed to care if one hits Drew? The conversation ends with both men clearly annoyed with each other and no hints of them working together moving forward.

Immunity challenge

It’s time for the immunity challenge. They must lie on a steep ramp suspended over the water. As the challenge progresses, they will move down the ramp and hold onto different handles. The last one remaining will win immunity. The challenge begins, and Emily is the first to drop. Katurah wants to drop, but she panics about being in the water. She steps off onto the platform and walks over to the bench. The remaining castaways must move down and hold onto different handles. Julie drops next, leaving five castaways in the challenge. They advance to the next round, which requires them to have their legs outstretched instead of bended this time. Dee drops next. She’s followed by Drew. Jake drops next. Austin and Bruce are the last two remaining. Bruce drops. Austin wins immunity!

Back to camp

The castaways return to camp after the immunity challenge. Bruce plans to play his hidden immunity idol on himself tonight. Everyone else is prepared for Bruce to play his idol, so the plan is to vote for Jake. Julie is ready to write his name down after he voted for her previously. However, Katurah tells Emily that voting for Jake tonight would be a waste. She tells Emily they should vote for Julie instead. She says everyone loves Julie and she’s too much of a threat to sit next to in the Final 3.

Emily shares with Bruce that Julie is not on his side. Bruce is on board with voting out Julie tonight. However, Emily still wants to try to blindside Bruce tonight. She thinks if she can convince Bruce that the numbers are on his side, then he won’t play his hidden immunity idol. Later, Bruce talks to Jake, and he reveals to Jake he still has his hidden immunity idol. Jake tells Bruce he is on board with the plan to vote for Julie, but he’s frustrated that he keeps getting lied to.

He sits alone on the beach and gets emotional. He feels like he can’t trust anyone. He’s also upset that he keeps playing everyone else’s game. Before tribal council, Emily keeps talking to Bruce about blindsiding Julie tonight. Emily believes she will pull off a big move if she can make Bruce feel comfortable enough to get blindsided tonight.

Tribal council

It’s time for tribal council. Emily says the vibe tonight is different since someone new has the immunity necklace. Bruce is aware of the situation, and he says he has to do what he must to keep himself safe. Jake admits he feels like the tribe pariah. He tells Jeff he’s always left out of plans. It has made him feel insecure.

Austin says someone not knowing information could be key to winning the game or not. Jake says the game has made him feel dumb. Jeff tells him to not feel dumb. It’s just a difficult game. Jeff points out how Julie has been called Mama J by her tribe members. Julie says it’s nice, but it’s terrible for her whenever she has to vote someone out. She gets emotional as she says she can’t even look over at Kendra sitting on the jury. Emily says it will be painful each time they vote someone out that they were close to. Drew says tonight’s vote is logistical.

There was more ambiguity around camp today. Katurah says the game becomes more intense as their numbers get smaller and the jury gets larger. Emily thinks the power dynamics will shift after tonight’s vote. Jake says he’s here to help someone make a move. Jeff asks Julie if she would be surprised if it’s her tonight. Julie admits she would be surprised based on her conversations. Austin predicts an advantage or idol will be played tonight. Julie and Drew think an idol will be played too. They share with Jeff that they know Bruce has an idol, and he’s likely going to play it tonight. Jeff says Bruce could be bluffing about playing his idol. Emily says it’s a possibility, but she says everyone would be surprised if he didn’t play it.

Time for the vote

Afterwards, it’s time for the vote. We see Drew vote for Jake and Bruce vote for Julie. But who will be voted out tonight? Before Jeff reads the votes, Bruce chooses to not play his idol.

Jeff reads the votes. The first vote is for…

Jake

Bruce is the eleventh person voted out and the fourth member of the jury.

And that wraps up tonight’s episode of Survivor. Thanks for reading, and come back next week for another live recap.
